The Sony 70-200mm f2.8 G SSM II is the quintessential piece of glass for several types of photographers. Take a look at the kit of any wedding, portrait, news, sports or wildlife photographer, and you’re bound to find this lens or its equivalent across camera systems.
I still don't understand why this lens costs almost 50% more than the version I 70-200 G did, but I've gotten some excellent photographs with it indoors in low light. Focusing on dancers in low light with my a99 has not been a problem. I just wish it cost less.
I use this lens on my A99, and shoot it at f2.8 or 4 whenever possible. It's tack sharp, from f4 on down, and f2.8 is as sharp or sharper than either the new Canon or Nikon 24-70 f2.8.
Consistent Output, Durable, Fast / accurate auto-focus, Nice Bokeh, Rugged, Strong Construction
I don't think there is enough good things to say about this lens. I use it with my Sony A77 mark II. I also have the 1.4 Teleconverter. Yes it was expensive but it was sooooo worth it.
