Similar to its Tamron sister lens the Sony 11-18mm f/4.5-5.6 DT does not convince. At 11mm the critical corner performance is absent and the hefty amount of CAs and pronounced distortions don't make things any better here.
Sony's DT 11-18mm super wide zoom lens represents a minor evolution of the 11-18mm lens released by Konica Minolta in mid-2005 for the Dynax 5D and 7D cameras. Its DT design is ideally suited for the APS-sized CCD imager of these now defunct models - and also for the Sony Alpha A100 camera.
Using this lens with the alpha55 I was able to capture high quality images under both interior and exterior lighting conditions, Unlike the earlier reviewer, I did not experience any edge-related chromatic abberations. Most recommended.

Sharp, vivid colors under a wide range of lighting conditions, good value for the money

Recommended as the best ultra wide angle zoom lens for the Sony Alpha cameras. Good colors, sharpness, distortion control, focus performance, and build quality.

Great colors, sharp, fast focusing, light weight, reasonably compact, decent build quality.

A little expensive, small maximum aperture.
it makes realy nice wide and crisp pictures ... it would be fantastic if this lens would have f2 I it is no good for filming in low light.
Bought this for interior shots - does exactly what I wanted it to do
Couldn't be happier! I was looking at wide angle lenses and got stuck between 2 sony lenses (one of which was a carl zeiss. Im too lazy to look them up :P). So I went to my dealer who only had this lens in the wide- angle section, and i'm glad i chose it.
