This is the lightest compact tripod that I could find for my DSLR. It is half the weight of my lightweight carbon fibre tripod. Sure it doesn;t have the same height and stability - but just like the best camera is one that you have with you - the best tripod is one that you are willing to lug around...
I've been using mine for over 7 years now. It has been on dozens of plane rides (fits easily in a carryon) all over the world. It's been on many multiple day backpacking treks and is still holding up wonderfully.
Fits into a backpack that's also full of other things. Easy to set up and use. Very stable. Used on uneven ground in the mountains with confidence. I would buy this again.
I have another Slik large tripod that I have been very happy with but since I do a lot of hiking this small version is great! Very light weight and easy to pack and carry on a small hiking camera backpack and iit is sturdy enough to hold my Nikon D7100 with a zoom lens. Great buy!
Legs are sturdy and flexible resulting in minimal camera vibration. Lightweight for packing. Ball head snap locking mechanism is a bit tight and difficult to unlock with cold hands. Would prefer a screw-in option. Overall, excellent compromise between weight and stability.
loading capacity of 2.2lbs!
Bought this tripod to mount a zeiss gavia spotting scope on to take on a high mountain hunting trip. Replaced the head with a sh707e pan head. The tripod worked very well. Packs up and deploys very quickly. Also folds down very compact. Was very stable, with relatively large/heavy scope on top.
I use it with a Sony X3000FDR action cam, it's almost to light weight but hasn't been knocked over yet, also when it's at max height it seems flimsy but low down it's sturdy.
I mounted my binoculars to this bipod for glassing in the mountains on a 4 day Hike-In Hunting trip being lightweight and small its a valuable peice of equipment to bring into the backwoods. It works great if your in a Sitting position for bird watching ,hunting or photography.
Works great. Exactly what I was looking for, an affordable, light but quality tripod for hiking and backpacking.
