Slik Pro Pod 600 - Supports 11.00 lb (4.98 kg)

I've previously owned a Slik tripod that was light and easy to bring on backpacking trips. When my old monopod gave out _ the legs kept collapsing under any bit of weight _ I decided to look at what Slik made for monopods. I've been very happy with it so far. Decent price but durable.

I have had the Pro Pod 600 for a couple of weeks and have been using it to help support/stabilize a Canon EOS 5D e/w 100-400 L lens. It works fine. I have had a quality tri-pod for some time and seldom use it due to the hassle.

Does not take the place of a tri-pod, but much easier to carry when walking a longer distance.

the older version was heavier than the current product - with OS I thought I'd only need a tripod for those times when time exposure or extreme stability was an issue - I was wrong even with OS on all my lenses the monopod is still a viable tool.

Don't know why I didn't buy this sooner! Slik will last a long time as I do have thier tripods.

My monopod arrived last Friday, a day before I had to go north to photograph the release of several rescue owls and eagles. Good timing! I have a couple of lightweight inexpensive monopods but wanted something better.

I am a professional photographer/videographer and travel a great deal, which limits the amount of equipment I can take with me. When I choose equipment my main qualification is that it meets my shooting style price is important, but is a secondary consideration.

Sturdy yet compact. Very easy to use. Stands up to rugged treatment.

I decided to look into a pod that was made by Slik since I have a tripod from them that I am loving. This monopod is sturdy, well built, at a great height for me (6'1) and lightweight enough to carry around anywhere. I highly recommend.

solid feel even fully extended. Extends close to eye level for me (5'11). Pair it with a Benro flip over top. Very happy camper.
