Prior to the DG upgrade, this lens already had an enormous reputation for its picture quality compared to its price. The upgrade has only enhanced this. The usefulness of the lens is greatly added to with its ability to focus down to less than a metre and anyone wishing to photograph large insects...

In this day and age, it's easy to write off any 'slow' telephoto zoom lens with an f/4-5.6 maximum aperture that doesn't have optical stabilisation. However, the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro still packs some impressive features at the price.

Based upon other customer reviews I expected better image quality than is delivered by this lens. I bought it because of vignetting with my Pentax 55-300 on the full frame K-1. I still consider it a good lens for the money and won't be returning it, but I feel some of the other reviews overstated...

Hi, i bought this sigma 70-300mm APO Macro on ebay and i put it on my canon 20d camera and it took five pictures and i got the dreaded err99. I took it off and clean the contacts with an erazer and put it back on and the err99 came up again.

This was a replacement for my previous Nikon telephoto. It is a very nice lense, comes in the nice standard sigma case but the focusing is noisy.
