Prior to the DG upgrade, this lens already had an enormous reputation for its picture quality compared to its price. The upgrade has only enhanced this. The usefulness of the lens is greatly added to with its ability to focus down to less than a metre and anyone wishing to photograph large insects...
Excellent optical performance for price., Good close focus ability (1:2), Light enough to carry all day.
Long extension when close focussed and zoomed., Front element and extension rotates during focussing
I bought this lens to replace a 6 year old Sigma DG non APO. The upgrade is noticeable with increased sharpness and fast AF. When paired with a Pentax 1.4 converter the results are still sharp upwards of F8.
Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight
Poor in Low Light
This is an awesome replacement for the Pentax 55-300. I owned a DA-L 55-300 that was sent off to pentax for a $225 repair. $225 later and I WOULD'VE been the proud owner of a used DA-L or better still I can buy a brand new Sigma 70-300 and perhaps get a little more usage and life.
It is a good lens that fit my budget. I put together a low end Canon SLR kit with a 50D and I felt this lens is more than sufficient for my photographic abilities. The lens is light weight, easy to attach and looks good on the camera. I tried a few macro shots and they came out really well.
Consistent Output, Easily Interchangeable, Lightweight, Nice Bokeh
Blurry Focus, Lens Creep, Poor in Low Light, Slow Focus, Weak Casing
Hi, i bought this sigma 70-300mm APO Macro on ebay and i put it on my canon 20d camera and it took five pictures and i got the dreaded err99. I took it off and clean the contacts with an erazer and put it back on and the err99 came up again.
I don't know
WON'T WORK ON MY 20D
