The Sigma 65mm f2.0 DG DN achieves a convincing balance between quality, size, and price. It's very sharp at least in the APS-C image circle, shows little longitudinal color aberrations and low vignetting and distortions (through lens profile), and produces a nice Bokeh.

Still, is it possible to complain about a lens that not only breaks resolution records, defeating bigger and more expensive rivals, but also can generate very sharp images across the whole frame up from the maximum relative aperture?

  • +

solid casing made of metal,, sensational image quality in the frame centre,, very good image quality on the edge of the APS-C sensor,, good image quality on the edge of full frame,, negligible lateral chromatic aberration,, moderate longitudinal chromatic aberration,, slight astigmatism,, excellent...

  • -

significant level of vignetting on full frame,, with such an angle of view distortion could have been lower.

All the things I concluded regarding the 35mm equally apply here: Leave the magnetic lens cap in the box, put in a depth of field scale, add a lock on the aperture A setting and put in a switch to de-click the aperture ring.

  • +

Outstanding sharpness, Low central CA, Generally good flare resistance, All metal construction, Quality manufacture, Pleasant bokeh, 3-year guarantee, Dust-resistant and splashproof

  • -

A degree of edge CA, Caution needed with the magnetic lens cap, No A setting lock on the aperture ring, Click stops cannot be switched off, Filter size not consistent across I range, No depth of field scale
