The Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM Art captures crisp images, opens up to f/1.4, and undercuts competing lenses on price.

  • +

Very sharp. Wide aperture. Attractive price. Available for multiple camera systems. Solid build quality. Eligible for mount conversion.

  • -

Heavy vignette effect. Omits image stabilization. Not the best option for ultra-high-resolution cameras.

The Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM is a truly excellent lens, that performs as well in the field as its superb lab test results suggest. With fast silent focusing and solid build, its lower price makes it a compelling alternative to the camera manufacturers' equivalents if you don't need weather-sealing.

  • +

Superb optics that beat anything else in its class, Impressive flare resistance, Fast, silent, and accurate autofocus, Excellent build quality, Very competitive price

  • -

Slightly fussy rendition of out-of-focus backgrounds under some conditions, No weather sealing

The Sigma 35mm F1.4 is nothing short of an optical masterpiece. Its bokeh is worth dying for, and given how demanding today's cameras are, we were surprised to see how well it suppresses chromatic aberrations, flare, and ghosting.

  • +

Exceptional bokeh, Razor-sharp, Optically-superb on APS-C, Unrivaled fast F1.4 aperture (vs. the Pentax lens lineup), Silent autofocus, Perfect for portraits, landscapes, or close-ups, Solid build quality, Professional-grade performance, 4-year extended warranty, Cheaper than the Pentax FA 31mm...

  • -

Much bigger than necessary (for APS-C), Heavy (665g), Long and bulky (with hood), Smaller/cheaper alternatives exist for APS-C cameras, No USB dock available for Pentax, No weather sealing

The Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens is the first result coming out of Sigma's recently announced lens lineup restructuring. This lens represents a completely new look and feel for Sigma - a very positive upgrade from a physical perspective and a big hit from an image quality perspective.

The Sigma 35mm/f1.4 DG is an excellent fast f1.4 lens, particularly suitable for available-light photography under dim light. Optically, it is a huge improvement from the Nikon 35mm/f1.4 AI-S I bought in the mid 1980’s, but that should not be a surprise given the improvements in optical design in...

Handling and features This lens is the first of Sigma's new 'Art' line of lenses that promise excellent optical quality and increased creative options thanks to a fast f/1.4 maximum aperture.

Sigma’s determined climb from an independent supplier of low-cost lenses to an optics luxury brand enters a new phase with the company’s “Global Vision” initiative. More than just a marketing campaign, the program introduces quality-control innovations such as confining all manufacturing to highly...

As a walkabout prime lens, Sigma's 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art lens is a winner, combining a very competitive price tag with excellent resolution and good all-round performance. Despite being on the large side, it is very well balanced and not out of place on smaller DSLR bodies, although it is best...

The Sigma AF 35mm f/1.4 HSM DG | A impressed us during our full-format tests but it can't completely fulfill our very high expectations in the APS-C scope. Now, the center quality remains nothing short of breathtaking especially considering its ultra large aperture.

I love this lens and 35 mm is now my new favourite focal length! I really like taking evening and night time pictures and this lens @1.4 is very sharp. This adapter/lens combination usually works well for autofocusing videos and stills, though could be a bit faster.

After reading online reviews, I sold my Canon to buy this Sigma. The Sigma is far sharper than the Canon equivalent wide open. No regrets here. Until Canon replaces their 35mm with a newer design, this is the 35mm to get.

I'm a wedding videographer and I use this lens for most of the getting ready, some portraits, and the open dancing during the reception. This is an all around beautiful lens!

I loved this lens when it worked. Used right out of the box with a brand new Canon 6D Mark ll. Right away there were these bands that wouldn't disappear. Turns out it is not fully compatible with the lens aberration correction. You have to go into the camera menu and disable the features.

I've been eyeing this lens for over a year, just didn't want to spend the money. I'm so glad I finally did. It's very sharp and fast. I've been wanting a wider lens for photography and this lens is perfect. Can't wait to continue using it. I don't see it coming off my camera very much.
