The Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG HSM is a truly excellent lens, that performs as well in the field as its superb lab test results suggest. With fast silent focusing and solid build, its lower price makes it a compelling alternative to the camera manufacturers' equivalents if you don't need weather-sealing.

  • +

Superb optics that beat anything else in its class, Impressive flare resistance, Fast, silent, and accurate autofocus, Excellent build quality, Very competitive price, Photographers looking for a top-notch, fast 35mm autofocus prime without breaking the bank.

  • -

Slightly fussy rendition of out-of-focus backgrounds under some conditions, No weather sealing, Anyone who shoots a lot in damp or dusty conditions.

Wow I am speechless, this is hands down the best lens I have used on my D600. Sharpness and micro sharpness are incredible, bokeh is soft - stays on my camera 90% of the time now. Have the dock nice but no adjustments were necessary. Just get one...

Only negative is size and weight, would prefer it to be less, but worth it in the final result! Bought it used with a crack in the distance scale, not a negative being that I got a great deal, but I am fussy and that has nothing to do with the negative aspect of the lens, it is outstanding!

The Sigma 35mm F1.4 is nothing short of an optical masterpiece. Its bokeh is worth dying for, and given how demanding today's cameras are, we were surprised to see how well it suppresses chromatic aberrations, flare, and ghosting.

  • +

Exceptional bokeh, Razor-sharp, Optically-superb on APS-C, Unrivaled fast F1.4 aperture (vs. the Pentax lens lineup), Silent autofocus, Perfect for portraits, landscapes, or close-ups, Solid build quality, Professional-grade performance, 4-year extended warranty, Cheaper than the Pentax FA 31mm...

Much bigger than necessary (for APS-C), Heavy (665g), Long and bulky (with hood), Smaller/cheaper alternatives exist for APS-C cameras, No USB dock available for Pentax, No weather sealing

The Sigma 35mm f/1.4 shows decent performance on the D7000. The center resolution is very high, while the borders and especially the corners are a bit soft wide open. The lens needs to be stopped down considerably to delivery very good resolution across the frame.

The Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art Lens is the first result coming out of Sigma's recently announced lens lineup restructuring. This lens represents a completely new look and feel for Sigma - a very positive upgrade from a physical perspective and a big hit from an image quality perspective.

The Sigma 35mm f/1.4 is unlike any of the Sigma lenses we have seen in the past. I must applaud Sigma for stepping up and challenging the big brands, by spending their resources on engineering new generation lenses with amazing optics – all at a great value.

Sigma's produced an excellent lens in the 35mm ƒ/1.4 DG HSM, with comparatively great performance at the ƒ/1.4 aperture setting, where the lens will no doubt be used for the majority of the time. There's a lot to like here: great results for sharpness, low chromatic aberration, and low distortion.

Handling and features This lens is the first of Sigma's new 'Art' line of lenses that promise excellent optical quality and increased creative options thanks to a fast f/1.4 maximum aperture.

In the recent years, Sigma has managed to reinvent itself - which is a rare thing for big companies. They started as a company emphasizing price over quality but we have to admit that we are immensely impressed by the recent shift.

From the fast primes that Sigma has introduced so far, this is probably the best one, yet. The resolution is impressive, CAs and distortion are well under control. Vignetting is quite pronounced at large apertures, but that's not really a surprising result for such a fast lens.

I've been a Canon lens snob for well over thirty years. I never even considered buying a Sigma until one of my students walked into my classroom with the Sigma 35 1.4. While this is a fast aperture lens, there is something about the image quality that this lens produces--It is very different from a...

I have Sigma 70mm 2.8 Macro which is the sharpest lens I owe (it is a perfect lens optically). Sigma 35mm 1.4 Art is as sharp or bit sharper in the center and slightly softer on the corners.

I shoot environmental portraits, dance competitions and some weddings. I have the a7ii and a6500. My Sony 35mm/2.8 is an awesome lens, but the 2.8 is not as fast as I need for the competitions. When I received the Sigma, I did a quick environmental shoot with it - WOW!

Short version: This is an awesome lens, just get one!* Longer version: Despite the use of some plastic the Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG feels sturdy and durable. It's somewhat big and heavy though.

My first Sigma Art lens was the 85mm f1.4 and I was super impressed! I didn't require any micro adjustments and the lens was producing absolutely beautiful images. I decided to bite the bullet on the 35mm and I am somewhat disappointed in the autofocus, but everything else I am happy with.

Love this lens! 35mm is amazing! I had the 50mm art with my Nikon Body and I become a huge fan of art lenses. They are very sharp and very fast in focus. I use it with my new camera Sony A7 iii and it works perfectly fine with all the features that Sony has like eye auto focus and etc.
