The Sigma 150mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM APO Macro lens is sharp wide open, and it improves dramatically as you close its aperture. It is capable of 1:1 magnification and produces minimal distortion.

This f2.8 lens is one of a number of Sigma macro lenses and sits between the 105mm and 180mm units. It is image stabilised and focuses internally so the lens barrel does not extend. It has full frame coverage and on an APS sensor camera has a focal length equivalent of 225mm.

Sigma's 150mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM APO Macro lens is a second-generation product, adding optical stabilisation to an already popular (and high-performing) lens. The new lens is optically more complex than its predecessor and, thanks to the added Optical Stabilisation (OS) system, just over 250 grams...

The Sigma AF 150mm f/2.8 EX HSM DG APO macro OS is certainly among the very best macro lenses around. It is capable of delivering very good results at max. aperture and the center quality does even reach excellent quality between f/4 and f/8.

This lens is great for wild life macro photography, it produces fantastic images but the autofocus is completely schizofrenic. It goes quickly to that "almost in focus", slows down to fine tune and then, when it finds that sweet spot it gives you one sort of "YES! I GOT IT!

I am very impressed with the sharpness and build quality. It doesn't focus quite as fast as my S-series Nikkor lenses but it is close. I would buy another one immediately if mine was broken or lost.

Great lens, especially for subjects that are shy. The extra distance over 105mm macro can be beneficial. Good feel and not too heavy, and weight isn't a problem, if you use on tripod, like I always do.

After using the Sigma 80-200 f2.8 and obtaining superb results, I went for their Macro offering.
Again, an excellent lens, with fast, sharp & quiet auto focus.
Hunts a little at really close up work, but I believe manual focus is recommended for this type of photography anyway.

I'm taking close-ups of plants and insects with my Nikon D700.Most of the time I use the tripod but I also take handheld shots of my surroundings and animals. The auto focus surpasses the 15 inch limit by 2 inches down to m13 inches. But I do my closeups mostly with the manual setting.

I have owned the Nikon 105 and while I haven't compared images side be side the big advantage the Sigma has is as a result of the extra focal length allowing the same sized image to be captured from significantly further away. Big advantage with insects.
