The Sigma 14mm F1.8 DG HSM Art is an ultra-wide prime lens with an extremely bright aperture and crisp optics.

  • +

Ultra-wide field of view. Very bright aperture. Very sharp. Solid build. Dust and splash protection. Available for multiple camera systems.

  • -

Some barrel distortion. Soft edges and corners at wide apertures. Dim corners. Doesn't support front filters.

The Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM ART is an impressive lens both physically as well as regarding its creative potential. However, its extreme credentials don't come for free. Yes, it offers an insane max. aperture at this focal length but at least technically you won't find greatness at f/1.8.

Sigma’s Art line-up has fast become one of the most highly regarded lens ranges on the planet. That’s why we’re excited to see the world’s first 14mm f/1.8 prime, with an ultra wide-angle and fast aperture which could make it every astrophotographer’s dream.

Goodness the Sigma 14mm f/1.8 DG HSM Art lens is good. Really, really good, thanks in no small part to its unrivalled f/1.8 aperture. It’s ruddy heavy, but the extra bulk comes with the payoff of increased light intake which in turn creates vibrant and sharp images.

It arrived prior to my leaving for an expedition to Antarctic so I took it along and it proved to be an excellent way to shoot massive icebergs at water level up close from a zodiac.

Superb image quality but it weighs an absolute ton. The price we pay for a bit of extra speed at 14mm. I wouldn't do it except for making milky way and other night shots where reducing motion smear is important. Replaces my Nikon 14-24 f2.8 for night sky duty.

Attached is the first image out of the box with this lens. This is a great lens for shooting anything in low light and you know with ultra wide lenses you have to work the location a little to find the best angle/s as the parallax comes with the territory...

Tried this lens for an interiors/architecture shoot w/ the Canon 5D IV. The distortion is severe and completely unacceptable. This is really just a glorified fisheye. Maybe it's great for shooting stars at night or something like other people say. But NOT a good lens for architecture/interiors.

I keep buying the ART lenses. As of today I'm sold on SIGMA. The first SIGMA lens I purchased was the 150-600 sport for football. I was so impressed with the quality and performance of this lens. I started investigate all of the new SIGMA ART lenses . I'm replacing almost all of my NIKON glass.
