The 14-24mm F2.8 DG HSM Art is a surprising, but very welcome, addition to Sigma's ever growing Art range of premium lenses, offering a faster aperture of f/2.8 at the expense of 2mm in focal length when compared to the very similar Sigma 12-24mm F4 DG HSM Art lens, whilst being cheaper than it's...
Let me say this outright: as a Canon user I have been envying Nikon users for their superb 14-24 F2.8 for a decade! So when this Sigma 14-24 F2.8 Art lens was announced, I didn't hesitate for a second to get it.
For a long time look for an ultra wide-angle comparable to the Canon L series but accessible. This Sigma Art exceeds my expectations, is very well built, solid, precise and soft focus. Its rings (zoom and focus) feel good to the touch. Without perceptible aberration or dispersion.
Ive been shooting with this lens for a couple weeks now and have absolutely fallen in love with it. I shot both architecture and landscape with this lens and have had no geometric distortion what so ever, the build quality is stellar.
Shorter and heavier than my 16-35 type III, I love to carry this lens for wide shots on my 5D Mark IV, along with my 24-105 on my 5D sr. The shorter length of this lens works well with my Cotton Carrier for boulder-hopping hikes. I am very pleased with the optical quality and price.
I bought this lens for astro photography and landscape but have yet to use it for that. I have however tried it out to shoot a concert in a cave it really was amazed at how sharp this lens can be. I am using it currently on a SONY AR7II with the MC-11 adapter. Pleased so far.
Had this lens for a week now. First shot astro with it: sharp, only the slightest coma in the far corners, and minimal vignette. For interiors this lens has very little distortion...I couldn't detect any on the tests I did. For general landscape photography it is a very nice range and sharp.
I had been looking for something wider for a full frame lens, and got the opportunity to obtain this lens. I love it! 14-24mm on a full frame body! And distortion is minimal even at such a wide angle. The lens also appears to be sharp throughout the frame at all focal lengths.
My only lens not requiring micro focus adjustments on my canon 5 mark Iv, great build quality, flawless.
This is a very good lens. As any lens they are compromises but I think this is the one for me.-The lens itself looks and feel like a precision instrument, like a lens should be made. The rubber rings are very precise, I like it. It feels well balanced on my Canon 6D Mark II despite its weight.
A very solid and sharp wide zoom lens in addition to the 24-70 sigma this is one of my new favorite lenses.
