The Seagate NAS HDD 8TB is without a doubt the best storage drive that we have tested to date. It has a solid performance while staying inaudible even during operation.

Great performance, Silent operation, Low power consumption, Suited for up to 8-bays, 8TB Capacity

For about $370 at press time, the Seagate NAS HDD ST8000VN0002 8TB has a lot of similarities with its enterprise grade cousin, the ST8000NM0055 8TB . At the same time, there is quite a bit that separates one from the other.
the packaging could be better. it's not quite as rigid as I'd like. It seems like a decent drive, but only time will tell.
-
+
data density, the transfer rate dropoff is pretty harsh.
-
-
weight, possible issues in mounting
I've used several of the 4TB Seagate NAS drives and now one of the 8TB drives. Never had any issues.
-
+
Did a full format and then put in a file server. No issues reported after 3 months of use. I'd buy another one if I found it on sale.
-
-
Expensive. Maybe $50 more than 2x4TB drives.
-
+
Large capacity, decent price when it is on sale.
-
-
Even though the drive reports no errors during test runs so far, these drives make a quite audible "whirring" noise sitting in an NAS server while idling and no activity is taking place. The sound seems random, comes and goes on its own.
I do not recommend these drives. Your data is not safe. They fail and have no rercovery
