Does it blow your mind how much data we are generating nowadays? While our Microsoft Word documents may be getting larger, or you have an ever-growing collection of photos thanks to high quality smartphone cameras, the elephant in the room is the amount of power we have in our hands to generate...
Bought a pair for a new Synology DS918+. Doing the data Migration, the 12TB disks are doing 300-500MB/Sec in read/write performance, best Hard drives I have ever owned. There is an issue with the 10TB -04 units that should be resolved this month on the write cache disabled in Synology's, but all...
Bought this 4th hard drive as part of my NAS (replacing an older WD Green drive which isn't designed for NAS). So far all my other Iron Wolf drives have been working well and reliable. I want the same consistency and reliability. Also this drive is spinning at 7200 not slow like others.
I bought this to use as a storage for home CCTV and connected via usb 3.0 to my home linux server. The parameters are as follows: Write speed (measured as writing 4*10^9 bytes of data - time sh -c 'cat /dev/zero | head -c 4000000000 > /opt/media/horace/1.raw' where /opt/media/horace is the...
I have a bunch of the IronWolf drives. I've never left a review because I've never had a problem with them. People tend to leave reviews that have a problem with their drives which skews the impression of the buyer. Thought I'd throw my 2 cents in and let you know that I'm happy with them!
I got two of these to replace a pair of Western Digital RED 4 TB drives in my Synology DS214 NAS. They've been working great for the last two days and I haven't had any problems. However, physically installing the drives wasn't smooth.
Gave it 4 stars cause it's noisy af. Works excellent, but they should have warned us before buying that it is loud.
I have a large NAS array, populated by all HGST drives. I saw this one and grabbed it because it was less expensive than the HGST. Now I have a "klunk" every time the drive array is accessed.
noisiest hard drive I ever heard
Excellent drive. I now have 4 of them and zero problems. I run any new drives I purchase through an extensive write/read test and then check the SMART data, to ensure the drive is good before I trust my NAS data with it.
A little noisier, and runs a little hotter than my four terabyte drives. Still a solid hard drive and I Love Seagate support.
