By several measures, the Samsung SSD 970 Pro is the fastest consumer-grade internal M.2 solid state drive you can buy, making it an excellent choice if you want the absolute best storage for your screaming PC build or upgrade.

Extremely fast read and write speeds, constant across capacity. Excellent reliability ratings. Five-year warranty. Low power consumption. Hardware encryption.

Expensive. Only two capacity options.
The Samsung 970 Pro is a great SSD that definitely deserves its mantle as the current fastest in the world. It is so much so that most people probably don’t even need it. If, however, you’re in the business of content creation, especially video editing, then it definitely should be on your wishlist,...
Samsung's 970 Pro flagship SSD offers incredible performance, especially when it comes to writes, where it tops the charts with up to 2.4 GB/s because of MLC flash. Reads are even faster at 3.5 GB/s. If only the SSD was more affordable: $200 for 512 GB is not exactly cheap.
We feel the EVO and PRO are both at a grand level and very close to each other in performance, the 970 Pro model definitely has a bit more bite in some areas though. Realistically, the 970 series is more of an evolution rather than a revolution, it has been all about refining the technology.
The Samsung 970 PRO line is faster and more reliable than ever. It features a new nickel-plated Phoenix controller, which promotes better performance, and uses Samsung's latest generation 2-bit MLC V-NAND, which has raised the endurance by almost 50%.
For those after the very best that NVMe SSDs have to offer, Samsung’s Pro line has often been the go-to choice for workstation and power peeps alike. They’re usually faster than their more consumer and wallet-friendly Evo SSD siblings, and often come with higher endurance ratings for all that...
If you want the world's best performing flash-based consumer SSD, then what you want is Samsung's 970 Pro.
There’s no doubt, though, that the 970 Pro is a high-performance drive that suffers from diminishing returns. If you have a high-end PC for creative applications or workstation tools, then it’s worth paying the extra cash to get the fastest SSD around. For the vast majority of people, though, the
The Samsung 970 Pro is the Korean firm’s latest attempt to maintain its position at the top of the SSD market – and, on paper at least, this drive is a barnstormer. Samsung’s next SSD success may sound like a foregone conclusion after the last few years of dominance, but reality isn’t that rosy.

Exceptional speed in all tests, Faster than the 960 Pro, Excellent endurance levels

Only minor gains over rivals, Expensive
If there was such a thing as a perfect SSD recipe, it would appear Samsung are pretty darn close to a culinary masterpiece, so to speak. The Phoenix Controller married to 64-layer 2-bit MLC V-NAND provides blistering performance; even-more-so than the previous champion, the 960 PRO.

+ Amazingly fast, + Stylish design, + M.2 Compact form factor, + Phoenix controller, + 2-bit 64-layer MLC V-NAND, + Improvement over the 960 PRO, + 5-year warranty
I never got above 400,000 IOPS (disappointed) for 970 Pro 1T. The seq. read/write for both 970 pro and 960 pro and the random read/write for 960 Pro are closely within the specs.
This is an expensive drive and even though it is worth it, there is no compelling reason to upgrade from any of the newer PCIe m.2 drives unless you want bragging rights or worship benchmarks.

As fast as advertised. The benchmarks don't lie. Bragging rights and showing off for all you techie friends. Actually, like all Samsung drives this is top of the line quality that works like blazes.

You can't tell the difference between this drive and other top tier m.2 drives. I replaced a 256 gig 960 evo m.2 drive with this one and the computer isn't noticeably faster. Run the benchmarks and you can see it is even though the percent of increase isn't great.
This is simply the best drive I’ve ever purchased! I can hardly believe the speeds as it even exceeds the rated speeds according to both Samsung Magician and Crystal DiskMark. Super simple installation using Samsung’s data migration software, and the drive endurance rating is wow!

Durable, reliability, fast
Just replaced one 256 M.2 with two of these. Using the Samsung data transfer software made the replacement a breeze.
Coming from the 960 evo, there is still a very impressive performance boost in read/write, I highly recommend anyone who require an upgrade as a drive for windows and gaming, best money I’ve spent upgrading in a long time.
