Samsung has once again proven that it’s at the top of the SSD hill. However, the drop in the length of warranty means this drive makes even less sense for most users. It’s a great product, but most people can get a drive that’s more than fast enough for their needs for much less money elsewhere.

Improved power consumption, Huge endurance improvements, Very slightly faster than the 860 Evo

Warranty has been halved to five years, Seriously expensive
Impressive performance isn't the only thing the 860 PRO has to offer. To keep your data safe, the drive features AES 256-bit full disk encryption and is compliant with both the TCG Opal 2.0 and IEEE 1667 specifications.

Pricey
The Samsung SSD 860 Pro offers outstanding endurance ratings and on-point SATA speed, but deal seekers who need a 2.5-inch solid state drive for everyday use can find cheaper alternatives.

Five-year warranty. Excellent reliability. Available in five capacities, up to 4TB.

High cost per gigabyte.
As a drop-in replacement for a hard disk you cannot beat the 860 EVO or PRO – but if you can bag a bargain on the older 850 range don’t pass that up either.

The fastest SATA 6GB/s interface SSDs yet

A little pricey
Samsung’s Pro range of SSDs have always had a hard time in the face of their cheaper Evo counterparts. On the face of it, they’re meant to be faster and longer-lasting – the very best gaming SSD , so to speak – but when the Samsung 850 Evo and 960 Evo proved to be pretty much just as quick as their...
However, the best SATA SSD is not necessarily the SSD you should buy. Frankly, we don't quite understand why Samsung is releasing another 860 Pro: if you want to pay a little more for an SSD, the choice of a superfast NVMe model is much more obvious.
Products like the Samsung 860 Pro 4TB definitely fall into the "easy to sum up" category. It's as fast as you could want a SATA 6 Gb/s drive to be, and with the added benefit of being positively enormous capacity.
Nevertheless, the Samsung 860 PRO is an excellent and robustSATA SSD and I am pleased to award our rating of ‘Excellent’ –
Between the small speed increases and big internal upgrades, the Samsung 860 Pro is a worthy successor to the world's best SATA SSD. But it's ultimately an iteration most users can skip.

SATA III limits maximum write and read speeds
Samsung’s mighty SSD850 PRO has been around for quite some time, but at long last it now gets a successor in the shape of the SSD860 PRO. The new drive replaces the 32-layer V-NAND of the 850 with 4th generation 64-layer V-NAND and also brings a new controller to the table in the form of the MJX...

I got this one because I was having problems with a samsung 860 evo. I have used * PRO ssds until that one. The write speeds were so slow ( 14 Mb/s ), the computer would not always reboot properly.
Put in my PS4 Pro. Everything is faster and looks better. Very nice.Apparently 1 & 2 TB ver. Don't run into write limitations on large writes ~73GBThanks bnh!
I have been using Samsung SSDs since the 830, and the pro version since the 840 pro came out both in my own machines and clients and have never had any issues at all and great speed from the drives. Definitely some of the most reliable drives available!
