With a more compact chassis and a different screen ratio, the new Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 aims to outdo its predecessor. Our in-depth review will show whether this is a success despite – or because – of the shrunken dimensions.
very thin and light, sophisticated build quality, microSD-card slot, AC Wi-Fi & Bluetooth 4.1, fingerprint scanner, precise touchscreen, great display with excellent contrast & colors, video recording in QHD, telephone functions, smooth handling
only average performance, heavy throttling, color changes from flat viewing angles, only Micro-USB 2.0, no NFC, IR transmitter of the predecessor is missing
Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 remains a great tablet for productivity and text reading, plus it has great screen colors and bright display. Its battery is not bad and the only drawbacks may be the 4:3 aspect and long charging, but in the end it’s the comfiest 9.7 inch tablet I’ve used.
very comfy for a 9.7 incher, OK battery, but below predecessor, loud, bright screen and excellent colors, no lag, no bloatware, good performance and productivity features
long charging, 4:3 aspect is less than ideal for video, camera below the iPads and predecessor, no NFC or infrared, benchmarks below iPad Air 2 one year later
The 9.7 inch version of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is almost unbelievably slim and lightweight, and feels good in the hand, with metal edges and a smooth easy-grip back. With an 8-core processor and 3GB of RAM, it's fast, and runs Android Lollipop without a hitch.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is a solid choice for anyone after an entertainment or business tablet, thanks to its sharp, vibrant screen, slim and light design, smooth performance and excellent battery life.
Incredibly thin, Powerful hardware, Screen well suited to productivity, Long battery life
The main difference between the first and second edition of the Galaxy Tab S is already visible from the model name. Here we see the 8.4 move to 8.0 and the 10.5 move to 9.7. This means that the size of the display has not only shrunk, but the new size brings a different aspect ratio, one that is...
Sharp and bright display with good color representation and excellent contrast, Expandable memory, Good battery life, High quality workmanship
Camera useful only under optimal conditions, Not the most recent Android version
This feels almost completely obvious but the Tab S2 9.7" is definitely the most compelling tablet that Samsung has released to date, and I think it's a good overall upgrade over the Tab S 10.5".
Now we answer the hard question that we put forward at the start of this article. Is the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 a good buy considering the Php29,990 price tag? Our answer is a resounding yes.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7in delivers quality in all the areas that matter – it’s the best-value large Android tablet around
A superb screen and lovely body - this is a brill Google tablet
Good screen, Thin and light, Strong performance
Average battery, Erratic fingerprint scanner, Plain design
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 is an upgrade in size and name only. It has a thinner and lighter profile with a new 4:3 aspect ratio, but the specs bump is small and battery life is short.
I'm talking about the older Ipad, not the Ipad Air.Several months ago I bought myself the smaller Tab S2 and while it was nice to have the small size I found the battery life a bit short and the response to touch erratic. Many times I'd have to tap on a spot several times to get the pad to react.
ALL IN ALL a good competition for IPAD AIR 2.
light weight ,great colours,good speed.
plastic back, sound should be a bit louder.
Nice screen, colorful, too many apps, confusing to figure out. If you are looking for a laptop substitute no tablet will do it. It's light and easy to carry when traveling but as a hardcore computer user I find it difficult to do things on the tablet.
Good colors, fairly big screen, easy to hold
annoying ad at top, no music app, confusing
Almost everything on this tablet is perfect! Wonderful impressive Amoled screen! When it comes to tablets screen resolution is extremely important. The 3gb of ram also makes this tablet a very responsive and smooth performer. The are only a few drawbacks.
Amazing display! Super fast and just the right size. Haven't turned on my computer since I got it. Paired it with a snap on cover and the magnet close turns the screen off, what a great feature!
Very happy with this tablet. The bright screen easy to read in bright light.
Bright screen. Very fast. Good battery life. It's 4:3 aspect ratio is better for some tasks.
It's 4:3 aspect ratio is worse than 16:9 for some tasks.
Its a very good tab. All of our family enjoying especially our daughter loves it so much. it has a very good form factor nice disply with the appropriate size and the hardware specifications are just about right for our usage. i got it in the thanks giving offer so it was a worth every penny.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 phone so I'm familiar with the Android system. The Tab S2 is a much more pleasant experience than using the phone. I also purchased a Samsung keyboard to go with it and so far I haven't really had a need for it. The performance of the S2 so far seems great.
I like the tab. It has good processing power and a nice display. My only complaint is the screen glass is apparently really soft. Definitely NOT GORILLA GLASS! I installed the Samsung bluetooth keyboard/cover day one. Put the tab in my backpack. Nothing unusual. No rough treatment.
Very good, no problems yet.
