SSDs were first used by professionals that wanted a bump in speed and performance for heavy workloads, but ever since SSD makers created more affordable drives, the SSD market got bigger, with plenty of offers and various price-per-performance ratios that were too good to pass on.
Performance Summary: Like its MLC-based counterpart, the Samsung SSD 860 PRO , the SSD 860 EVO with its TLC NAND is among the highest-performing SATA-based solid state drives we have tested to date.

SATA Is Old Hat, NVMe M.2 Drives Not Much More Expensive
Looking at the performance the Samsung 860 EVO 1TB is capable of, I would say that it’s easily one of the best performing SATA III SSD I’ve used despite being more expensive than most of the SSDs available in the market.

Price is on the higher side
Through introduction of the Samsung 860 EVO, Samsung has done two things that make the EVO a great introduction; they have made it current with their latest 64-Bit 3D TLC V-NAND and they have given more power to their MJX controller, thus creating faster host to host communication.
There can be no conclusion other than the fact the new Samsung 860 EVO shows green lights everywhere, and checks all the right boxes. It is getting rather saturated in the SATA3 arena and the performance difference is becoming more marginal at best.
The Samsung 850 EVO has been a long time favourite and the go-to solution for most users because, similarly to its more expensive sibling, the 850 PRO, it took advantage of the 3D Vertical-NAND technology (which translates to a greater density and a better performance because of vertical stacking of...
Samsung Electronics America, Inc. today introduced the 860 PRO and 860 EVO solid state drives (SSDs), the most up-to-date additions to the company's SATA interface lineup. The products are aimed at consumers who require fast, reliable performance across various applications, from everyday computing...
The Samsung 860 EVO combines great SATA SSD performance, serious endurance levels, and superb value.
Both the Samsung 860 EVO and Crucial MX500 drives are amazing, represent the pentacle of SATA SSD development.
The 860 EVO 1 TB gave us the solid mainstream performance we've come to expect out of Samsung's EVO line. We distill the overall performance rating using an older SATA SSD as a baseline. To compare each drive, we then take the geometric mean of a basket of results from our test suite.
I use 970 EVO plus 1 Tb ssd for Windows Op. System -Put the 860 EVO 1 Tb. in for my DSD music files. Definite decrease in responce time, one song can be 1 Gb. HDD had up to 7.5ms time to .7ms time for 860 EVO. Probably should have went with more Tb. Very Pleased.
Replaced a 500GB disk drive with the Samsung 860 and did a clean install of windows 10 and my laptop runs like new. The old drive was getting bad sectors every time I used it. Kept it alive with checkdisk until I could replace it with the SSD. Boot-ups and shut-downs are quick and quiet.
Installed in my Toshiba L55 laptop, cloned the Toshiba 128GB SSD to the Samsung 500GB EVO 2.5" SSD using the downloadable Samsung Data Migration software, EVO installed and booted up with all the new extra space, Windows 10 shows 465GB, took about two hours for the clone, disassemble, dust cleaning,...
-I repurposed my HTPC as a server: new case and some HDD's, cloned the old HDD boot drive onto the new 860 EVO.

-Only bought two. My bad.
Good speed and quite enough for the job, just register the drive and theres not too much to worry about
Once you start using SSD for PC gaming, you can never go back. This is prohibitively expensive, but I felt like living a little and I have no regrets. Was fairly easy to install after watching several online videos, just be aware it does not come with the screw needed to actually fasten this to your...
Very easy installation (no cables), a small physical footprint, awesome boot times (seconds, not minutes), and incredible longevity with a very small risk of product failure (when compared to now arcane hard drives).

pricey but worth it
the item was sent without any bubble wrap, it came shaking inside the box. They sent a huge box and a medium box for something so small. But there were no flaws and it is working perfectly. I will give 4 stars for the exaggerators of the boxes and without the due protection
I picked up this 1TB 860 EVO SATA III SSD and, prior to installing, backed up all my data to an external storage drive, for safety. Next, using Samsungs easy to download software, I was able to quickly clone the previous HDD, including full Windows 7 operating system and all settings, bookmarks,...
Bought this to replace the hd in my "daily driver" (

Fast . Compared to a mechanical drive the difference is night and day. Ez install as a replacement on a "generic" pc.
