The Samsung 860 Pro solid-state drive (SSD) is the latest update to its flagship 850 Pro that came out four years ago. The new drive now has top capacity, fastest SATA performance, and is made to last.

Excellent longevity, Fast performance, Helpful software and useful feature set

Expensive, Shorter warranty than predecessor, No NVMe support
The 860 EVO 1 TB gave us the solid mainstream performance we've come to expect out of Samsung's EVO line. We distill the overall performance rating using an older SATA SSD as a baseline. To compare each drive, we then take the geometric mean of a basket of results from our test suite.
: The best TLC-based SATA SSD available, but it can’t justify its high price premium

Significant power savings, Five-year warranty, Very fast

High price
Best of all, the 860 Evo isn't some overpriced luxury - the cost per gigabyte is perfectly reasonable for a 2.5in SSD of this calibre, at 32.8p for 250GB, 30.4p for 500GB, 29.6p for 1TB, 30.8p for 2TB and 31.3p for 4TB.

Exceptionally fast; Long lifespan; Reasonable price

-
Modest sequential write speed increase
Faster and longer-lasting than the 850 Evo, yet still competitively priced, this is the new king of SATA SSDs

Exceptionally fast, Long lifespan, Reasonable price

Modest sequential write speed increase
Samsung has pushed the ageing SATA 6GB/s interface to its limits with this fast, well-priced and ultra-reliable SSD.

Huge choice of capacity, Well priced, Good all-round performance, Excellent endurance
-
-
Not that much faster than previous drive
If you’ve got an NVMe PCI M.2 port on your system you’ll probably want Samsung’s 970 Evo Plus in that form factor, but for everyone else the SATA model is an excellent option.
Very easy installation (no cables), a small physical footprint, awesome boot times (seconds, not minutes), and incredible longevity with a very small risk of product failure (when compared to now arcane hard drives).

pricey but worth it
Replaced a 500GB disk drive with the Samsung 860 and did a clean install of windows 10 and my laptop runs like new. The old drive was getting bad sectors every time I used it. Kept it alive with checkdisk until I could replace it with the SSD. Boot-ups and shut-downs are quick and quiet.
Installed in my Toshiba L55 laptop, cloned the Toshiba 128GB SSD to the Samsung 500GB EVO 2.5" SSD using the downloadable Samsung Data Migration software, EVO installed and booted up with all the new extra space, Windows 10 shows 465GB, took about two hours for the clone, disassemble, dust cleaning,...
-I repurposed my HTPC as a server: new case and some HDD's, cloned the old HDD boot drive onto the new 860 EVO.

-Cloned boot drives without a problem.

-Only bought two. My bad.
bought this for gaming, and programs start about 30% faster with no stuttering during gameplay. The 1 TB is a must to start, but might add another SSD in the future..this is plenty of storage for most of my programs...Slim design and easy install.
the item was sent without any bubble wrap, it came shaking inside the box. They sent a huge box and a medium box for something so small. But there were no flaws and it is working perfectly. I will give 4 stars for the exaggerators of the boxes and without the due protection
I picked up this 1TB 860 EVO SATA III SSD and, prior to installing, backed up all my data to an external storage drive, for safety. Next, using Samsungs easy to download software, I was able to quickly clone the previous HDD, including full Windows 7 operating system and all settings, bookmarks,...
Bought this to replace the hd in my "daily driver" (

Fast . Compared to a mechanical drive the difference is night and day. Ez install as a replacement on a "generic" pc.

None so far really. Maybe having to buy additional hardware to mount it.
