If you feel the need for both maximum speed and maximum durability from a consumer-focused SSD, Samsung's SSD 850 Pro is the best choice on both fronts. But if you can live with a shorter warranty and a little less speed, good drives are available for a lot less cash.

Class-leading 10-year warranty, thanks to 3D memory., Fastest SATA SSD we've tested yet overall., Available in capacities up to 1TB.

Expensive compared to mainstream SSDs that are nearly as speedy.
If you can use it and can afford it, the Samsung SM951-NVMe could be the fastest SSD released in 2015. The low latency makes this drive very fast under normal desktop use and the high throughput delivers your hefty files faster than ever.

The highest performing m.2 SSD in existence. Enterprise SSD technology and performance at client prices.

Not available yet. Weak compatibility until motherboard makers release updates. High price compared to SATA products.
Performance Summary : Samsung’s new SSD 850 PRO drives performed extremely well throughout our battery of benchmarks. The drives performed well with large sequential transfers and also offered very low access times.

Somewhat Pricey, No Power Loss Protection
Samsung took the market by storm when they released the consumer oriented 830 SSD series a few years back since that line could easily match and in many cases even surpass the performance of competing SSD models without extra cost (the fact that it was a product manufactured by Samsung certainly...

Price (For Some)
Samsung has used its proprietary 3D V-NAND technology to construct a new SSD that expands storage to a whopping 2TB. Interesting insofar as the technology uses an older, more mature process in a stacked formation, endurance, capacity and warranty are all excellent.

Price, Solitary form factor
Samsung created a lovely product with the 850 Pro series of SSDs, they are remarkably fast in pretty much any and all tests from our benchmark suite. The drive is continuously in the top 5 of tested SSDs performance wise and to see performance that high with such consistency shows that the SSD is...
The Samsung 850 PRO 2TB drive is a bar-setting SSD in both capacity and performance, offering power users arguably the best consumer drive on the market.

Ever since our first discovery of the 470 Series SATA 2 SSD way back in 2010, Samsung has been unstoppable, carving out a new standard with every SSD release. The release of the 850 Pro SSD with 3D V-NAND is a perfect example of just that.
Samsung has made some nice improvements over the 840 PRO drives, helped along with modified firmware and their proprietary high density 32-layer 3D V-NAND. Performance is pretty even across all capacities with the 128GB drive just a little slower than the 256GB, 512 and 1TB drives at 470MB/s whereas...
Today Chris gives us a close up look at Samsung's 850 Pro 512GB SSD, the one he considers best for price and performance in the 850 Series. Take a look.
This hard drive has been installed for a couple of weeks, and no issue yet. Runs fast, is reliable, was easy to install. I paid a bit more for the PRO model in hopes it will have less chance of failure (Which I understand is inevitable) Although I have not experienced hard drive failure.

Boots up windows 10 in less than 10 seconds. Also loads GTA 5 really fast. Everyone who has played GTA 5 knows how much of a pain it is to load GTA 5 on a standard HDD. But on the 850 PRO it loads in no time also makes a major difference in game performance.

Coming from the old hard disk, I'm very impressed with the performance of this Samsung 850 Pro SSD. If there is no Windows update, I think my computer is shutting down in 3 seconds. I replaced my WD Black Edition with this SSD and very impressed with the performance. Absolutely recommended.
a month installed by now and so far, so good. I already had a Samsung SSD 850 (not PRO) on my iMac for a year installed by now and the change is huge, I have to say that I prefer to run a clean installation of the OS so a small part of the improvement in speed is coming from that though.
If you can afford an SSD then absolutely go for it. My only thought is that there really isn't much need for the larger size ones if you only play a handful of games, maybe that will change with new AAA game releases. Only time will tell.

So fast! I have my operating system and the 2-3 games I play the most on this drive. This was hands down the most noticeable upgrade I have ever put in my computer. Boot time is 13 seconds on a bad day from completely off to on the desktop with nothing else loading. Great product.

Pricey, but to be expected.
After reading review articles and doing some research I decided to buy this SSD. It was an easy data migration and install and I am now enjoying a much faster boot up not to mention greater responsiveness from programs that used to seem sluggish.
Working great so far. Had some trouble with the included disk cloning software, but another clone tool I have used worked fine. Physical installation was simple (your mileage may vary). Used to replace an older and much smaller SSD. Speed is as expected.
Not much faster than my old 256 GB Samsung 840 Pro, but perhaps my AMD FX-8350 processor might be holding it back a bit. I found that the provided Samsung data migration software works.

Very fast. Noiseless, like all other SSD's. Efficient, like all other SSD's. Good capacity for all your programs and some games. Robust V-Nand technology promises better durability.
