The lens is nice, has a heavy feel to it. It is not the sharpest lens however depending on the situation. When focuses at infinity, it is barely sharp at all. There is also a lot of vignetting, a little too much. The lens does not go down to 1.2. It looks the same as 1.4 or 1.8.
I have been using fast aperture, manual focus, and other vintage lenses for a long time. I was interested in the SLR Magic line up for a long time, but I was afraid with the fast aperture/shallow depth of field that the sharpness would suffer significantly even when in focus.
I use it with my Sony A7S. mostly I use Canon lenses but this one is excellent change. Bokeh is soft and nice, it's sharp enough and great difference from other lenses that I use, is that this one is heavy. Focus ring is smooth. I would recommend it
I was looking for a while for a fast, wide angle prime for my Sony a7rii. I couldn't be happier with this lens. I normally shoot manual anyways so the lack of auto focus is not an issue to me. I like the size of the lens and the weight feels good on my camera.
I love this compact, super fast, cine prime. It does everything I ask of it. Renders well in both 1080 and 4k. Gears work extremely well with the redrock micro remote follow focus. Small enough to put on the ronin-m with the fs5. Flaring is pleasant and out of focus areas are very smooth and round.
Great Lens, love it
Im a documentary filmmaker, shooting Sony FS5 and A7iii. I bought this lens specifically for the second-camera wide shot in interviews, but with a soft BG.This lens is perfect for this, and Im finding I use it more and more just gathering b-roll.
I really enjoy shooting with this lens. Its not crazy sharp like just about every other lens in my kit, but thats what I love about it. Its creamy smooth - and far more gentle on skin tones than any other lens Ive used. Its nice and small, solid build quality, and I like the clickless aperture dial.
I have been used it on my A7R ii. Even though it is not as sharp as my Sigma lens, it has much better bokeh. I think it definitely worth for this price.
The title says it all. Nothing is jumping out to me as bad about this lens thus far.
