Rokinon AF 35mm f/2.8 FE Lens for Sony E

I bought this lens for my a7II as an inexpensive alternative to the Zeiss 35mm f/2.8. The hope was to have a lightweight travel companion that was bright enough to use in low-light situations without bumping up ISO values too much.

I was really looking forward to this lens. I like the size and the image quality but the auto focus is slow on my A7II. It's often (but not always) almost 3 seconds. I can focus manually with my other lens faster than that.

I'm a big fan of Rokinon lenses. I use manual lenses all the time but wanted an affordable 35mm with af so i was pumped when this came out for sony full frame. To sum up, the motor is rather loud and the auto focus is slow.

decent build quality and very sharp. AF is quick enough for my mostly still photography. AF noise is present but not a issue for non-video work. A good value at half the price of the Sony 2.8 lens

I'm using this lens with an A7 iii and it's been great. I love the size. The focus is responsive and silent. Glad I took a chance on it.

Excelent for money!

Obviously this lens isn't going to beat a competitor for $2k, but for less than CAD$400 this lens provides high value for the money. The auto-focus is decently fast, pretty quite and accurate. In my experience there's been very little hunting if at all.

Good glass. Low quality housing. Worth the price.

Probably a decent lens for still photography, but noise makes it unsuitable for video. The lens makes a continuous humming/rattling sound when in any but manual focus mode, and the noise comes through clearly in the audio.

Great lens, cheap, sharp, and not slow lol at least not mine. I mount this to an A7Rii and it works phenomenally. I highly recommend !!
