Rokinon 14mm Ultra Wide-Angle f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens For Canon

I was extremely skeptical about purchasing this lens. Many have stated that it was either hit or miss in terms of quality. I had been eyeing it for a couple of months until I saw it go on sale, which made the gambling slightly less riskier. I could not be happier with this product!

The common issue I found with this lens was that the focus was off. I was disappointed when I got one with this problem. I let my return date pass and was stuck with this lens. So I got on youtube with a friend and found a video showing how to correct this issue and am I glad I did.

Bought the Rokinon 14mm/2.8 lens to shoot star trails at the Arches National Park. The manual focusing and aperture took a little getting used to, but not too difficult to learn. The lens was sharp and well made.

Having to manually focus doesn’t bother me but you need to have good vision or wear your glasses/contacts. I use this for weather, architecture, landscapes, family portraits, and sometimes even birth photography. I need more equipment for astrophotography but that is on my list.

I use this lens for astrophotography and am very pleased with it. Stars are well focused at all four corners and center of the lens. I didnt need the auto focus model so purchasing the manual focus and exposure model works perfectly for this application.

Ok....so it’s a very pretty lens for a start. Beautiful glass and a snug fit on my 5d mk2. Focus is easy, anything over 10 feet is in focus it seems and infinity work is a snap. It is very very wide angle.....trying to get a tight picture is a droppable offense! It’s bright...

I decided to get into a little astronomy photography. This glass is absolutely perfect for that scenario. It seems as though at low f stops the Clusters on zooming seem to be a little coma but otherwise this is fantastic glass for the price. It does very well at lower f/stops for landscape.

I've always heard great things about this lens, so in 2015 when I started astrophotography this was my immediate pickup. The lens is super wide at 14mm, everything you want will be in frame and then some. For my lens in particular, the focus has never been tack sharp, in fact, not quite close.

The Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC shows promise, but falls well short in sharpness. Ive owned this lens for a year, using it on my Canon 5D mk IV, and also used the Nikon version before I switched to Canon.

I've been able to get some very sharp photos with this lens. It takes some practice learning how to choose the proper focus, but it is very forgiving. It's hard to tell the difference between multiple photos taken with different focus positions of the focus ring.
