Rode Podcaster USB Broadcast Microphone

The Rode Podcaster is a somewhat rare dynamic (rather than condenser) USB microphone. It offers a broadcast-style design and signal without digital signal processing.

I was using the AT2020 and it's a great mic but the problem with it is that it would pickup so much of the room causing me to work harder editing my voice overs. I wanted a mic that was a dynamic mic so I would have to talk into the front of it to get my voice and be less likely to pickup anything...

I primarily use my RØDE Podcaster to record voice overs for gameplay videos, so having clean audio that doesn't detract from what's being said and happening on screen is really important to me. I do not regret purchasing this microphone and am greatly satisfied with it's performance.

  I'm not sure where to start here... On the whole the RØDE Podcaster is so much better than my previous microphone it isn't funny. It captures great audio without picking up a ton of background noise and is solidly built.

  Strictly speaking, as it is a USB microphone it is not going to be the -best- quality audio. It is however great for what it is.

One of the best voice over mic's I've used in a long time. Simple to use.

I used the Blue Yeti a Logitech mic and a couple of others. This mic is great for use in a regular room. It blocks out all the back noise like a specialized mic that does the same.

Needed low maintenance, easy to use, great quality mic. This is just right.

Bought this for doing webinars at work, and making voice overs for home videos. Easy to set up on both the Mac and PC. Good value. Really heavy, quality construction.

As a retired author with an interest in podcasting and an earlier career in broadcasting, I am thoroughly impressed with the Rode Podcasters professional sound quality and production ease.

Solid, durable, great sound and easy to set up. The sound is very, very good. Honestly, a more expensive micmight give you a bit richer sound but I'm very glad I didnot pay for more. This all that I need. USB plug is so convenient. I really recommend it

As a seasoned podcaster, it is always great to find a solid usb mic. The sound quality is fantastic and raising the audio quality of my show.

Very nice sound. Picks up nearby noises a bit more than I anticipated, but overall a great mic. Works well with Ubuntu Linux 14.04 and also Windows 7. I've also used it in a virtual machine running Windows 7 and it worked well with that setup as well. A bit heavy, but in a high quality feeling way.
