This microphone cost 700 dollars and can compete with microphones in the 1000 dollar range easily. I have been using this microphone since 2010 and stop using it in 2011 due to getting some near gear for my home studio. It has an shock mount built in that has great vibration resistance.
This is my repeated purchase because I found this Rode K2 is as good as my Neumann TLM 107 with a Mackie Onyx 1620i mixer and a pair of Dynaudio Acoustics BM12A monitors. It was not impressive at all until I opened the K2 and got rid of the Russian Electro-Harmonix tube and replaced it with a...
I have owned K2 for almost 1 year and used it mainly for vocal. The high SPL handling is really impressive comparing to other mic I have ever had, nevertheless the variable polar pattern and full package including the large shock mount.
Static Mic lamp, three directional OVERALL OPINION I've had 10 months in my home studio. I tested a number of models ranging from Chinese mic 200 euros until neumann U87. By changing the lamp Tesla advocated by rroland (thank you to him), we arrive at a class its really slipping into the mix without...
making sound / voice acoustic instruments OVERALL OPINION 3 years no points of comparison in this price range.
Micro lamp (6922) with three directional patterns for voice and instruments. Comes in a bag with food, and suspension cables 7 pin XLR.
I still have to play around with it more but right now it seems like a great microphone!
The Rode K2 is a Large Diaphragm vacuum tube condenser microphone with a very low self noise and a good wide dynamic range. The K2 has a very classic sound to it once you start changing the tubes you will see how much better this microphone can get than what it already is.
Wonderful Mic for Vocals and other applications. this mic will perform excellent in the studio for you. I bought this mainly for vocal's since I think tube Mics give Vocals such a warm and full sound to your vocals.
This Mic sounds great and hands down in my opinion its the King of all Mic's when your on a budget. Sounds really good with the Universal Audio Solo 610 preamp. Best bang for the buck. Just get it !! You wont regret it.
