It seems well built and has some nice touches, such as manual focus override in AF mode, but it's over-priced
I bought this for my wife -- she's the photographer in the family, I just tote the tripod! She likes it a lot, says it is a good complement to her 18-55mm and 70-300mm lenses. Ideally she'd like something faster, but in the price range we operate in, this is very good.
When you just pick the lens up and feel the weight of the lens and it's quality feel you know that this lens is worth the MSRP of $900. It produces awesome, undistorted landscape pictures. I used it on my K-10D for many years but know use it on my K-7.

Very crisp images--Try to keep your F stop above f8 for best results or use a Tripod if you need to achieve that in low light conditions. Well constructed lens.

The lens has a hard time locking with the auto focuss even with the K-7. No Weather Proofing or SDM focuss like my crown jewel Pentax 16-50 DA* lens.
I bought this lens before a long road trip and the photos I brought back were wonderful. I love the focal length range and all the technical qualities are right on. I use it on a K5 and it is a perfect match.
No distortion as I get with the 10-17mm lens
I have used this lens for architectural photography and also in a historic cemetery.I am pleased with the images it produces and it exaggerates the foreground nicely at 12mm.There are times when Live view focuses better than the viewfinder.
Nice color rendition, wide angle lens and less distortion. Purple fringing is very visible. The real bad thing is its price. I will give 4 stars if its in $ range.
