v This strange lens offers the distorted view of a fisheye lens, with the convenience of a zoom lens. It offers a 180degree field of view, from corner to corner when set at 10mm and the equivalent of a 25.5mm lens on a 35mm camera, with lots of barrel distortion, at 17mm.

Fisheye lenses are never really perfect performers. However, these are special effect lenses where sheer quality is more a secondary aspect anyway. The Pentax SMC DA 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 ED[IF] Fisheye is certainly sharp enough for its purpose and the high degree of barrel distortion is naturally a...

Just got this long awaited present-for-myself and have been putting it to good use in the two weeks since it arrived. Very very cool lens with very interesting results. The zoom range Although only 7 mm arithmetically, actually bears quite different composition structure at either end of this range...

tac sharp & an overall great lens for all sorts of occasions. great for really big landscapes & tight up close shots. 10mm has all sorts of cool distortion, if you're into that. I tend to use the 17mm more, it comes in very handy.

solidly built, it has a hefty feel to it

  • -

the outside lens is really curved & protrudes from the main lens body., I havent scratched the lens, but it concerns me to see the glass hanging out :o), keep that lens cap on between shots

This is a really fun lens to use. I bought this to add to the wider angle spectrum of my lens collection. 10-17mm is a perfect focal length, as it creates a super wide-angle field of view, but does not completely distort your photo like a fisheye does.

Excelent equipment for my job.

Although I have not yet put this lens through a thorough test, I have found it on first use to be a tac-sharp (especially at f/8 and greater) and very fine lens for super wide angle shots. I hope to give a more detail analysis after I use it in my future travels.
