This 14mm optic for Micro Four thirds compatible cameras from Panasonic offers a relatively bright maximum aperture of f/2.5 in a compact pancake lens body and costs around £290. It is fairly unique in it specification for Micro Four Thirds format cameras in terms of focal length aperture and size...

It's a tiny and incredibly lightweight lens but performance is really excellent when it comes to image quality.

Overall this lens is capable of producing excellent quality images and given its keen price and miniature size, it is sure to find many fans amongst Micro Four Thirds system camera owners.

  • +

Miniature size, Excellent sharpness, Fast AF, Low CA, Good value price

  • -

Can be quite prone to flare with a bright light in the frame

On the one hand the tested lens is really a small, lightweight, well-turned-out device, giving us a very good image quality in the frame centre. On the other hand, though, it would be difficult to demand something less from a “prime”, especially that it doesn’t break any resolution records and still...

  • +

solid but at the same time exceptionally compact barrel,, very good image quality in the frame centre,, chromatic aberration well-corrected,, decent work against bright light,, negligible astigmatism.

  • -

monstrous distortion,, huge vignetting,, image quality on the edge of the frame could have been better.

Good for movie and any amateus usage as wideangle lens.

  • +

Weights and sizes close to nothing. Sharp when you use CA correction.

  • -

Flare when you put sun or lamps in the frame. Notiseble vigneting than you make panorams stitshing single images.

a perfect pair with 20/1,7 especially if you prefer primes instead of zoom lenses

  • +

sharp center, smallest serious m4/3 lens, cheap

  • -

corner sharpness not that great, but if you stop down a little improves considerably.

This lens gets mediocre ratings, if it wasn't for the weak borders it could deserve an excellent rating. Of course this is not the lens you would use for professional architecture photography where corner to corner sharpness is critical, but the center is noticeably sharper than the expensive Oly...

  • +

    - Weaker borders - Need to be stopped at least at f4

  • -

    - Small, small, small - Sharp center, even wide open - Fast focusing - Flare resistance - Mounts inexpensive 46mm filters, same as my Summilux25 - Inexpensive
