Panasonic deserves a round of applause for designing a very compact and lightweight interchangeable lens camera. Overall, the camera is capable of taking good pictures, but performance is a bit uneven.
-
+
Extremely compact, lightweight, High-quality LCD screen, Superior AVCHD videos, Built-in Wi-Fi
-
-
Uneven photo quality, May be too small for some, Weak battery life
The GM1 offers many of the features and image quality of its Lumix GX7 sibling in a much smaller, lighter package. A few concessions have been made to reduce the size so drastically, namely a lower-capacity battery, but it's an excellent option for casual shooting.

+
Extremely small and lightweight camera body, Very good image quality, Reliable transfer of image files over Wi-Fi, Truly silent shutter mode, Good touchscreen, Nice level of Q.menu and virtual Fn button customizability, Compatible with all Micro Four Thirds lenses, Kit zoom is highly compact with...

-
Poor noise reduction, JPEG rendering of yellows a bit washed out, Low battery capacity, Small controls can be fiddly, Focus mode dial not especially useful, Electronic shutter can produce banding under artificial light, Video resolution tops out at 1080 30p, Default dynamic range settings produce...
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GM1 squeezes excellent image-quality comparable to modern mirrorless digital cameras and fast performance into a compact camera-size body. This alone justifies this digital camera as a compelling offer. This mirrorless produces well-exposed images with low noise.
-
+
Low image noise until ISO 1600, Well-balanced metering, Good color and WB, Speedy autofocus, Fast and highly responsive, Short shutter-lag, Instant video capture, Calibratable LCD, Extremely compact for a mirrorless
-
-
Slight image softness from base ISO, Dynamic-range not as wide as competition, Modal EC interface, Small cramped controls, Preview not always Exposure-Priority, Wrong Live-Histogram, Video clips last second, Poor battery-life
Panasonic finds a way to squeeze the power and performance of the GX7 into a lightweight, slim and well-built body. With fast AF, excellent high ISO performance and the vast flexibility of the Micro Four Thirds lens system, the necessary compromises such as reduced video framerates, lack of...

Large Four Thirds sensor is impressive for a camera this small; Shares sensor and processor of GX7; Excellent image quality with class-leading high ISO performance; Responsive all-around performer; AF system is fast and accurate; Easy to use and responsive touchscreen; Built-in Wi-Fi with remote...

Can be awkward to use with larger lenses; Rear dial is easy to accidentally press; Lacks a hot-shoe for EVF or external flash; Weak built-in flash; 1/50s flash sync; No 1080p60 video; No external headphone jack or mic input.
The Panasonic Lumix GM1 is a camera extraordinary in many respects. It has the best balance between size and image quality of all cameras currently on the market and offers a performance and a range of advanced features into a truly pocket-sized camera body.

+
Microscopic, Excellent image quality, Fast AF and accurate, Excellent gust.

Sync flash at only 1/50s, Some controls are not immediate, Build quality is not flawless.
The new Panasonic Lumix GM1 is unbelievably small. It’s just hard to believe that Panasonic somehow managed to stuff a 4/3 sensor inside of a camera body this compact.
By Michael ReichmannMost serious photographers hate finding themselves somewhere without a camera. Murphy being an optimist, the alien mother-ship will land just across the street the day that you leave your camera at home.
Panasonic's latest Lumix is a downsized dynamo.
There's a lot to like in Panasonic's GM1, despite its limitations (small control buttons, the lack of a flash hot-shoe and accessory port and limited battery capacity). The camera with its compact kit lens makes a great combo for street photography.
Lumix G compact system cameras (CSCs) have an impressive track record in our reviews, but it's mostly been for all-round dependable quality rather than alluring or groundbreaking features.
Hi all, I am basically a DSLR guy. I've used SLRs, and then DSLRs for decades, so I'm very used the way they are handled, and I can anticipate their behaviour regarding AF and exposure. I love my FF camera. I love large sensors.
