I bought this lens to go with my Olympus OMD M1 MFT travel kit specifically as the lens for low light conditions. I also have the Leica Summilux lens on the Panasonic LX100 and have been very impressed. So far this new MFT lens has not disappointed. Build quality is very good.
This is an awesome lens. I have the m 4/3 version as well but I like this one better. Only con is the weight and size but the built quality is second to none.
I had very high expectations when purchasing this lens and I'm happy to say it exceeded those expectations. I read so many great reviews about this lens that I knew it would be the one I got when I got my GH-4 and it did not disappoint.
It could be my fav lens among all 4/3 AND M4/3 lens as well, the only thing hold it back for that is the size. But I can't complain about that, all DLSR lens with auto-focus are big, and this one's build quality is really really good.
I use this lens for pretty much everything I shoot, landscapes, people, night time lapses with the milky way, and crossfit sports. Except for far away sports, I always try to use this lens because the images and the videos are always spectacular.
I rented this piece for a couple of weeks to knock out a couple weddings and some portrait sessions using my Olympus E-3. Let me start by saying that it's an impressive performer and will give you tack sharp images all the way down at f/1.4.
Great walk around lens, fast focus and fast aperture, color saturation very Leica like. Designed by Leica and Panasonic built in Japan makes for an excellent lens at an affordable price.
This lens provides beautiful bokeh and is sharp everywhere. A fantastic lens, I'm happy to see Leica will be producing one for the micro 4/3 mount as well.
My primary weapon is my E-M1 with grip loaded with either the 12-40 F2.8 or my new behemoth 40-150 F2.8. But I also carry an E-M5 loaded with a prime lens for targets of opportunity at weddings and indoor events. For all things indoor natural light, this lens is my goto glass.
If you're looking at this lens, you know what it is. It's a classic, standard angle, fast prime lens. The low light performance at f/1.4 is great. AF speed is slow though on my E-600. I believe the internal mechanism on the lens itself is slow.
