This camera offers very good manual controls, and is good in low light situations. It also offers good audio controls--real dials and switches, not menu-driven!
The Panasonic AC-130 was a great Investment for our video production business. We were very skeptical before purchasing this camera because we were so used to the quality coming out of our Nikon SLR systems.
I needed a universal video camera that could also handle pageants, graduations, and weddings (my money makers). This one is it, though it has a large camera body by today's standards.
This is a quantum leap from digital videocams available just 5 years ago and far more affordable. Records hours and hours of HD footage on tiny flash cards and has two slots to allow simultaneous backup on one or seamless leapfrogging onto the second. Pic quality is outstanding.
Good camera for light production work. Great especially if you still shoot DV format. not as good in low light as my old Sony PD-150 (you have to turn the gain up). Think hard about exactly how you are planning on using your camera. I needed FireWire out, so the equivalent Sony camera was out.
We bought these for multicam live production at our church. We also do teaching DVD's, live streaming and documentary production. Several of us in the congregation are pros and use the cameras for corporate projects as well.
This camcorder is a workhorse. The ability for redundant recording on an additional card is a great benefit. The controls are easy to reach and operate.
I used the Panasonic HMC150 before this camera and loved it. That's why I purchased the AC130AP but this camera is a step backwards. The HMC150 was a much better camera. My main two issues are the focus and the sound quality. This camera is very bad if you want to use auto focus.
Great camera. I upgraded from using multiple DVX-900B units. Some small features garnered big points from me about this model: Lens: Incredibly wide and has excellent zoom properties. Though I wish it was a servo zoom - or at least had one more faster zoom speed, it is smooth and precise.
I bought this camera because it can produce a date and time stamp in the recorded video. I use the camera for legal video. The only thing I have negative to say about this camera is directed to panasonic.
