I own 5 onkyo receiver, 3 of them being the high end and have their flagship SR5008 from a few years ago. This receiver is amazing! I don't know if it's better than the 5008 because my upstairs I run polk TSi 100's for the 4 surround and TSi 500's for the fronts with the matching center channel and...
This receiver gives you amazing sound. The THX feature is worth it as it adjusts levels so that you can hear the effect even at low volumes. I have very large speakers and this unit has no difficulty producing the sound with range and thundering lows without being boomy.
Great amp, very clear sound easy set up besides the speaker connections. Onkyo should be ashamed of the cheap remote control. This is my 3rd Onkyo and withe every new reciever the remote suffers.
Reciever is pretty good. Pandora errors on re launch each time unlike other onkyos i have. 3 zones all work. Love the re mapable 12v trigger. This is the best onkyo i have owned. 1 star off for the awful remote. Old remotes way better. Takes way too long to change zone control. The new app is poor.
This was exactly what I wanted - great sound, versatility for audio and video, and an AV receiver that is easy to configure. I have always had good luck with Onkyo equipment going back 20 years or more. Onkyo understands video, but really works hard to make music sound great.
Bought from a different vendor, but wanted to share my initial impressions. Compared to my much older A/V receiver, this receiver has been a revelation. It's like a blanket has been lifted off my speakers. I hear a lot more detail in movies and music than before and the dynamics have improved a ton.
Awesome surround sound!
I performed the setup and the sound with my existing speakers sounds absolutely wonderful. That's the good news. Bad news: The Bluetooth interface was useless for watching audio-visual content from my laptop -- apparently there is a baked in delay in the design of the Bluetooth receiver, dating back...
Love it this receiver is a huge step up from my older Denon.
Awesome receiver, great value for the price. Thing blows my last Dennon out of the water. This thing generates POWERFUL rich sound. Paired with Polk built in speakers it brings my home theater setup to a new level. HDMI controller is a little finicky at times.
