I think that unfortunately Onkyo has gone the cheap route, I purchased this unit to replace a Onkyo TX SR806, which is over 10 years old, (by the way still works perfectly) yet it is a far better quality receiver than this new one, also the remote that comes with this unit is about as cheap and...
I use to be a professional Home Theater Audio Video Installer, and I must say that this receiver is "All That!". The only thing it doesn't do is video upstreaming to 4k, but who need that nowadays with the new gear that's out now. Save your money and get the best for a lot less.
This is my 3rd Onkyo receiver that I’ve purchased over the last 20 years. Great products, great power, sound, and video. Easy setup. Recommend to everyone thinking of home theater receiver upgrades. Price was high but for the quality and connection ability it was the best choice.
Overall fits my needs quite well. Using in a 7.1 theater room with a crown xlr amp for front speakers. Had to ground the reciever to reduce ground loop hum. Built in chromecast audio leaves a lot to be desired, very slow if it decides to work.
This actually exceeds my expectations. I did have to get some better cables and wires because I am demanding more from this. But the sound is balanced and lovely. I do like to make it louder than what the calibration wants.
This is an awesome receiver. Plenty of power. It has a ton of features with a lot of flexibility to do many including wireless speaker sets. Even with just an average pair of speakers it can blow you away.
This is our fifth Onkyo receiver purchase. They work great and if you have a problem you can't figure out, the company's tech support is wonderful.
I have only had this receiver in service for a little over two weeks now, but it is seems to be functioning according to it's specifications. It has a few very minor eccentricities, such as when I go from the "Cable Box" source to "CD", the CD input (and the music) spontaneously cut in and out.
I finally decided to upgrade my living room entertainment center and have a couple of Onkyo receivers in other rooms. Catching this at $499 was a steal. I expanded my speaker setup to take advantage of a 5.1.4 atmos configuration. The audio and video have been fantastic.
Performs well and looks good. Remote is flimsy cheap plastic and is not a universal remote.I sold my previous Onkyo receiver that was less expensive and it had a solid, substantial, learning remote. This remote looks like something that would accompany a $50 unit.
