The Olympus PEN E-PL9 is, for the most part, the same mirrorless camera as the E-PL8, but adds a built-in flash and 4K video.

“The E-PL9 a beginner-friendly, higher-quality alternative to your phone camera.”
As I said earlier in this review, my first impressions before using the PEN E-PL9 were somewhat sceptical. I saw the missing accessory port (and thus lack of any external mic), a smaller sensor with fewer megapixels than some of its competitors, and I wasn’t quite sure who this camera was aimed at.
Technology has a life. It’s often conceived in an R&D lab, where ideas and prototypes give it bones. Then, this little bit of tech stumbles around as a beta, before being released into the wild marketplace where it’s expected to produce profits or be eaten by competition.
Olympus PEN E-PL9: This entry-level model from Olympus is pitched squarely at vloggers, bloggers and holiday snappers

+
Small size, Tilting screen, Attractive retro design, Fun effects modes
-
-
No viewfinder, No USB charging
The PEN E-PL9 is perfect for first-time buyers who’ve outgrown a smartphone and just want a camera that reliably captures sharp, well-exposed images, fits in a bag and doesn’t look like a piece of military hardware.
-
+
Size and portability, Attractive design, Easy to use, Image quality and effects, 4K video and Clips modes
-

No viewfinder, No accessory port, ISO limit is only 25,600, Only uses 3-axis IS system, Modest sensor specs, Relatively expensive
The Olympus PEN E-PL9 is a solid if modest refresh over its predecessor the E-PL8, which is already a versatile camera.Despite its plastic build, the E-PL9 feels like a solid bit of kit, which is more than can be said of some other entry-level CSCs.
The latest Olympus PEN camera is designed for social media bloggers who want 4K movie recording and plenty of built-in special effects.
Very nice camera. Not hugely priced. Takes fantastic quality pictures. Would deffo recommend.Great functions and instant upload connectivity with smart phone.
This camera is not only lovely to take around with you (lots of comments on its looks!) but has a lot of different functions to give flexibility in taking pictures. It's easy to do point-and-shoot for both stills and video and the touch-screen at the back is useful for quick focus on a subject.
0ne gripe : A case and atleast 16gb memory card should be included at this price.Added onus : Got 6month extended warranty upon signing up with Olympus site part of their promotions.
This is an entry level interchangeable lens camera system. Of course as you probably know it uses the micro 43 sensor mount system. This one is the same 16 megapixel version found in several OMD and PEN bodies.
