High quality electronic viewfinder, New 20Mp sensor, Build quality and controls
Small, fiddly buttons on the back, Expensive next to other Olympus cameras, High Res Shot mode of limited use
The PEN F is a fashionable as it is functional. Pairing many of the same guts found in the enthusiast OM-D E-M5 II with a brand-new 20MP sensor, the PEN F is a highly capable shooter offering good image quality and decent video quality.
The Olympus PEN-F is a unique direction for Olympus and its PEN line of Micro Four Thirds cameras, one that puts a focus on premium features, build quality and styling. In years past, the PEN has run the gamut from ultra affordable PEN Lite models to the rather expensive E-P5 (US$999 at launch), but...
I have become a fan of ‘micro four thirds’ and have gradually evolved to the excellent Olympus OM-D-E-M1, a small selection of prime lenses and zoom combinations for most practical situations, from portraiture and landscape to wildlife. Why then should I invest in the PEN-F?
I've upgraded from the E-P5. I've had the Pen-F for a couple of weeks now and am glad I bought it. It's a worthy upgrade to the E-P5, I never did like the tilting screen on that (didn't tilt enough to warrant having it).
CAMERA ======= There are loads of times now I don't carry a camera, as I have a rather nice phone that takes lovely photos whilst out and about. A camera has to have that extra special factor to have it with you at all times. The Olympus F may be the one with that extra special factor: It's cool.
This camera is a joy to use. I regularly use DSLR (competitor brand), but I have always been a fan of Olympus products. The PEN-F is no exception. I am very satisfied with the image quality, it is just super sharp.
I bought a silver Olympus PEN-F. It's a sleek, versatile and classic mirrorless camera. Very well built. Very responsive and focus speed is fast. Mostly shoot with its Olympus prime lenses: 12mm, 25mm, 45mm, 75mm and 60mm Macro lens.
Fast Shutter Speed, Good Battery Life, Good in Low Light, Great Resolution, Small / Compact
found the auto using from live view to EVF sometimes would black out on me so I switched it to manual and it works for me
I love the design of this camera because it reminds me of an old Leica IIIf film camera , but with all the advancements of digital. I especially like having the ability to use my old Leica M-mount lenses (with an adapter) and having an incredible 5-stop image stabilization.
Good Image Stabilization, Good in Low Light, Great Resolution
The Pen-F is very nice camera! I'm primarily a jpeg shooter and the front dial, controlling film styles, is really inviting for me to use. The viewfinder is the perfect magnification to see the full frame, as I wear eyeglasses.
Easy to Use, Fast Shutter Speed, Good Battery Life, Good in Low Light, Great Resolution, Large Clear LCD, Small / Compact
Nice little camera and I just love the looks of it and how it feels in my hands--can access all controls without taking my eye away from the viewfinder Pictures are great but I did find one flaw with the B&W--when I use the red filter I have to use editing software to get the noise out of the sky...
Great Resolution, Small / Compact
Short Battery Life
