The mirrorless Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark III camera doesn't offer a lot of tech upgrades, instead focusing on an easier photography experience.

  • +

Compact, solid design. Built-in EVF and flash. Tilting touch LCD. 8.8fps burst shooting. In-body stabilization. Raw and JPG capture. In-camera art filters. Wi-Fi.

  • -

16MP sensor seems dated. Tracking focus slows speed to 4fps. 4K video not easily accessible. No Bluetooth or NFC.

The E-M10 III is an attractive camera that does a good job of making its range of capabilities accessible. It's flexible and enjoyable and relatively easy to shoot good 4K video with.

  • +

    Increasingly keen beginner photographers

  • -

Sports shooters or anyone demanding dependable autofocus

Call us underwhelmed. The Mark III is a good camera for stills, but suffers when it comes to fast-moving action and video, mainly due to less-than-stellar autofocus performance. The contrast detect system simply can’t keep up with the competition.

  • +

Decent 16MP images, Five-axis internal stabilization, Compact, lightweight, Built-in EVF

  • -

Same sensor as E-M10 Mark II, Autofocus isn’t great for moving subjects, Image quality lags behind APS-C peers

6.0/10

The Olympus E-M10 Mark III is the third-generation base OM-D with a simplified feature set and interface. A proven anti-alias-filter-free 16 MP CMOS sensor paired with a new image processor allows this digital camera to produce images with sharp details while maintaining very low image-noise.

  • +

Very low image noise, Excellent retention of details, Reliable metering, Good Automatic White-Balance, Excellent built-in 5-axis stabilization, Virtually no shutter-lag, Fast contrast-detect AF, Fast shot-to-shot speed, Very responsive, Solid build quality

  • -

Some color inaccuracy, Dynamic-range below other mirrorless, Occasional focus miss, Not always Exposure-Priority, Limited EVF and LCD contrast and view-angle, Restricted features, Uncomfortable eyelets, Short battery-life

Though it doesn't deliver the best photo quality, the sum of the Olympus OM-D E-M10's design, performance and features add up to a nice upgrade from a point-and-shoot.

  • +

The Olympus OM-D E-M10's design and interface works well for both beginning and advanced photographers, it has a well-rounded feature set, and it's fast enough for general-purpose kids-and-pets photography.

  • -

It produces good-but-not-great photos and videos.

The Olympus OM-D E-M10 is the newest and smallest in the company’s mirrorless, Micro Four Thirds-based OM-D camera system. This Compact System Camera (CSC) has a classic SLR design, comparable to other OM-D cameras like the E-M1 and the E-M5.

  • +

+ Stylish retro design with compact bodybased on a metal chassis, + Sharp images, high-resolution results, + Fast autofocus performance, + Very precise color reproduction(perfect saturation)

  • -

    - Electronic viewfinder withaverage resolution, - Three-axis image stabilizer instead offive-axis stabilizer (offered by the E-M1and E-M5), - Swivel monitor can only be flippedup- and downward, but can’t be rotated, - Low-quality video results

All shooting modes were fast and accurate, Dedicated Video Capture Button is always ready to record, AF system is quick in all conditions, Great image quality, 3-Axis I.S. works well handheld and on the move, Compact and portable camera body and small lenses, Easy to handle with full, on-body...

The Olympus OM-D E-M10 offers a lot of compelling features, especially considering the $699 (body only) price. It has a bright and clear tilting touch screen, effective image stabilization, and plenty of shooting modes and controls.

  • +

Small compact design handles well, Detailed images with true-to-life color, Built-in Wi-Fi and powerful apps work well with smartphones, Impressive 8-shot-per-second burst shooting

  • -

Sluggish autofocus, especially in low light, Aggressive noise reduction, No external microphone input, Some setting adjustments require multiple steps

A heavy DSLR does you no good sitting at home. That’s why the portable, lightweight OM-D E-M10 Mark II is such a joy. It’s compact and easy to carry, unobtrusive enough for discreet street shooting but versatile enough – when paired with specialized lenses from the 20-strong and growing M.

Olympus is serious about killing DSLRs. After releasing two stellar OM-D cameras, the E-M5 and E-M1 , which were aimed squarely at pros due to their high prices, Olympus is finally setting its sights on a larger audience with a camera that's both sleek and reasonably priced.

I've owned the PL1, PL3, PL6, and P3, and this M10 is by far the most capable and best camera body in the Olympus MFT series of any earlier model I've owned. The M10 has wheels on top of the camera that can be set to program shutter speed and aperture.

The best camera I have ever owned. The Wi-Fi, is v=cool, see live view on my phone, focus, take photo. The photos are great. I use it for all types of shots. They all come out beautiful, (FOR ME) indoors or out, It does not matter.. easy to use and set up..
