Very high price
This compact pancake lens sports a fast f/2.8 maximum aperture and is compatible with all Micro Four Thirds cameras. The isn't equipped with in lens stabilisation ,which is typical for pancake lenses, but Olympus camera owners will be able to take advantage of their camera's in-body stabilisation...
Optically, the lens performs well, though not exceptionally: it's reasonably sharp wide open, though best used at Æ’/4, and chromatic aberration is higher than we'd like. Distortion and corner shading are very reasonable.
Although this lens may have a few shortcoming optically, and it isn't the lowest priced lens around this focal length, it will still win over many fans due to it's extremely compact and lightweight design and high build quality.

Very good sharpness overall, Good build quality, Lightweight, Compact, Reasonably priced

High levels of barrel distortion, High levels of CA
The Olympus M.Zuiko 17mm f/2.8 is a lovely little lens but unfortunately it does disappoint regarding its optical capabilities. You expect a top notch performance from a prime lens but the Zuiko isn't perfectly sharp neither at max.
Looking at the above list of pros and cons, you can see that the latter are quite a number. I guess it’s inevitable. You just can’t make a lens of these dimensions, these parameters that is free of aberrations. Alright, alright… Let’s say you can.

very small, but looking sturdy body,, excellent image quality at the center of the frame,, good image quality at the edge of the frame,, slight astigmatism,, quiet and accurate autofocus.
-

chromatic aberration going from medium to large with stopping down,, very large distortion,, coma visible at the maximum aperture,, working against bright light could be better,, noticeable vignetting at the maximum aperture.
i love this lens for the fact that its 17mm and I have used it in the city and shot some sunsets with it. I prefer the 1.8 but this is a really decent lens fo the price you pay for it. Its small pancake look streamlines the camera a little bit and make it more portable which is a plus.
Don't know for whom is it good for. Not very sharp, not fast. Not my lens. At last, to pricey for the construction.

AF; f:2,8; cheap plastics, no hood
This lens arrived without delay. I was pleased with the price. This lens will be a Big Value in my photo shoots. Thank you.
Utterably forgettable in almost every way, yet a pancake lens that does nothing wrong. Not recommended at retail price, but something worth purchasing in the second hand market.

Pancake design, can be aquired cheaply in second hand markets.

Forgettable image quality, nothing compelling about it.
I have never really shoot a lot of primes except on my M6. I never saw the point as sharp and fast as zooms are now a days. But I was pleasently suprised at how quick I feel in love with this lens. 17mm or 34mm equvilent seems to be the perfect focal lenght for me.
