Handling and features This telephoto macro lens for Micro Four Thirds system cameras from Olympus provides an angle of view equivalent to a 120mm lens used on a 35mm camera, has a silent MSC focusing motor and produces life size magnification at its closest focus distance.

This lens provides a great combination of great optical performance, lightweight, compact design and value for money. Micro four Thirds camera owners interested in macro photography should add this lens to their wish list.

The Olympus M.Zuiko 60mm f/2.8 ED macro may not be the best macro lens that we've ever tested but it is certainly an impressive one. The center performance is great and the outer image region is also very sharp at medium apertures. The corners could be better at large apertures though.

The next test of the Olympus equipment shows that fixed-focal lenses, produced by that company you can buy practically on spec. The company keeps a high quality level of its optics and they don’t launch any trash.

  • +

nifty casing with interesting design,, sensational image quality in the frame centre,, good image quality on the edge of the frame,, slight chromatic aberration,, zero distortion,, excellent coma correction,, moderate vignetting,, silent and very accurate autofocus.

  • -

modest accessory kit,, noticeable astigmatism at the maximum relative aperture.

Buy this lens if: - You require a fast macro lens that delivers high resolution at the most commonly-used focal lengths. - You want a macro lens that provides a good working distance. - You'd like a close-up lens that is versatile enough to be used for portraiture and other types of subjects.

This 60mm macro lens for micro four thirds cameras (either Olympus or Panasonic) is a 13 element optic that is optimised for close-up work and also performs as a medium telephoto prime. The film equivalent focal length it 120mm, making it ideal for portraiture and inconspicuous street photography.

The 60mm f/2.8 ticks all the boxes for a macro lens – it's sharp across the full range of apertures and produces life size magnifications of tiny objects on the sensor. It even has a focus limiter switch for faster autofocus at normal distances.

The great quality you expect from Olympus. The size and weight make you happy you chose the MFT format. The only complaint is that the hood does not come with the camera and is unreasonably expensive. At this price point, it should be included.

This lens can be carried in the pockets of my hiking pants. My previous macro lens an Tamron 180 f3.5 was larger and heavier that the Oly Pro 40-150. This means it goes with me more often and to more places than its predecessor. It has been on hikes with rain and drizzle.

From the trial flower photos taken so far I am quite satisfied with the lens. It would appear that it will make a good 'stand back' lens. With the Panasonic 30mm and 42.5mm lenses I have a good spread between 60mm and 120mm in full frame.
