With excellent still image quality and good HD video capability, the Olympus E-PM2 is a great choice for an entry level compact ILC.

+
Great image quality up to ISO 1600, Fast focusing, Compact size, The addition of the touchscreen really boosted performance up from the EPM1, Excellent battery life, The set it and forget it philosophy will have great appeal to the beginning shooter

No pop-up flash, High ISO pixel smudging, Too much of a plasticy feeling to the camera body
The Olympus PEN-EPM2 is a point-and-shoot mirrorless camera which does exactly what a novice will need it to. For more adventurous users, there's a lot of functionality hidden beneath the skin (including the image quality of the OM-D) making the E-PM2 a potentially very attractive second camera.
-
+
OM-D image quality in smaller, lighter, cheaper body, Excellent JPEG color and exposure, Suprising level of customizability with several user-assigned function buttons, Raw shooting and in-camera processing, Small but functional handgrip, Flash accessory included, Fast 8 fps burst shooting mode,...

Flash competes with other potential accessories for single accessory port, Image on LCD is difficult to see in bright sunlight, No external dials for exposure mode/shooting parameter setting, Sparse controls and compact layout may be too cramped for some
The latest camera in the line of the ILC PEN family of cameras from Olympus, the PEN E-PM2 has a desirable combination of features and performance; at a good starting price. This is one of the better ILC models on the market, offering quite a few advancements versus its predecessor.

Outstanding image quality, High-quality widescreen LCD is great, Touch screen option on LCD is nice for beginners, Various control buttons give you a second option if you choose not to use the touch screen, Small camera design versus DSLRs is appealing, yet camera remains c, Classic retro look of...

Menu structure can be a little tough to master, Doesn't quite have the image quality you'd find in a DSLR camera, May require investment in additional lenses in the future, No built-in or popup flash option means you have to carry the included external flash unit with you at all times, Touchscreen...
The Olympus PEN E-PM2 is a very compact and light mirrorless camera. It was launched in late 2012 with the E-PL5 Olympus PEN E-PL5 which shares the same internals and adds a traditional mode-dial and tilting LCD.

Very low image noise, Reliable metering, Good white-balance, Quick shot-to-shot speed, Fast contrast-detect AF, Short shutter-lag, Generally responsive, Effective built-in stabilization, Excellent automatic Manual Focus Assist, High level of customization
-
-
Poor color accuracy, Focus hunts in low light, Long black-out, Display not always Exposure-Priority, Low contrast LCD, Modal EC interface, 1s Video record delay, Uncomfortable strap eyelets, Flimsy battery and memory door
You can't complain about the lack of variety in the current crop of mirrorless interchangeable lens compact cameras! This one...
Fewer calories, same great Olympus taste.
The E-PM2 is the entry-level model in the PEN range, but it still boasts some upmarket features. Its metal body houses the same 16-megapixel sensor that's used in Olympus's top-of-the-range Olympus OMD E-M5 .
The E-PM2 is a nice little camera for snapshooters making their first foray into interchangeable-lens photography. However, it won't encourage them to develop their photographic skills and understanding because it is simply too difficult to access and adjust most of the key camera settings...
There's a lot of choice in Olympus's Pen range. The E-PM2, also known as the Pen Mini, is the baby, and smallest, model of the company's compact system camera range. But small size doesn't mean small features; like both the E-PL5 and even top-tier OM-D E-M5 cameras the E-PM2 comes loaded with a...

Affordable, good image quality, fast single autofocus, art filters have plenty of use, touchscreen, hotshoe and accessory port
-
-
Kit lens is a bit soft, no built-in flash, front grip is plasticky, few function buttons, can't use included flash and optional electronic viewfinder together, continuous autofocus not up to scratch
The E-PL5 essentially offers the heart of the flagship OM-D model inside a the smallest, lightest and crucially cheapest PEN body. If you can live without the OM-D's built-in electronic viewfinder, dust- and splash- proof body, 5-axis gyro image stabilisation system, and more hands-on interface, or...
As a first-time mirrorless camera user, pretty much every review worth reading prior to purchasing this was dead-on. This camera packs quite a punch for such a low price, to the point that casual amateurs will truly enjoy using it without feeling like they should wrap it in a diaper.

Lightness, visual options, AF speed, decent build

No EVF or built-in flash, slightly complex menu, no tilt-screen
i had the pl-1, pm-1 and now the pm-2. i love this camera. the IQ is through the roof, it never lets me down . having so many options and modes is very nice. HD videos are quite respectable for a still camera, the burst rate (8fps)is a great asset.
-
+
touch screen, small and handy for my smallish hands, IQ is outstanding, easy to operate, super control panel, lens selection
-
-
could be too small for larger hands
I have had this camera with th 14-42 2R and the 40-150 kit lenses for 24 hours. I am a serious photographer owning a Pentax 645D with legacy lenses and a Sigma DP2 Merrill. I Have an Olympus XZ-2 Stylus as a pocket camera but was never satisfied with its IQ.
