bought me a set and a second flash since it was the only system for sony. While I thought it was pretty easy to use and for my purpose enough the build quality is really really terrible. by now both hot shoes are broken of the speedlights.
I would not recommend this flash for sony users at all. The hotshoe mount which is plastic can be easily damage and the two sticks that holds the flash in place is not a very good design. The flash slide back and forth on my hot shoe.
As advertised in the description. Like being able to adjust each strobe (I now have 2 Di700's) right from the camera with the Air 1 Commander.
I bought two Di700A kits - one for Sony and one for Canon. Works great on both. The great (and little known) feature is the Air 1 commander crosses platforms, although it took a few emails and phone calls to Nissin to confirm this.
Works well be must be close by and in the line of sight. The dial works well and the control is great. Not crazy about the limitations.
Great plug and play wireless kit!
I switched from Canon to Sony and the Canon 600 ex-rt Speedlight's which I had 8 of did not work with Sony and do not have a slave move so I couldn't even use them as dumb lights. The Nissin works excellent every time, plus the interface is dead simple.
Having used the PocketWizard Flex TT5 with the onboard controller on my 5D Mkiii, i thought I'd see what a cheaper option could do on my Sony. It out performs Pocket Wizard in every way. Not a single misfire over three days of shooting.
I purchased a second Di700A flash so that I could use 2 of them for portrait shooting, with the radio trigger commander. I usually use them as key/hair or background lights, sometimes with shoots and gels. The flash has more than enough power, and is easy to comp each light to get the ratios right.
