Nikon Telephoto Nikkor 180mm f/2.8D AF ED-IF Autofocus Lens

Nikon AF Nikkor 180mm f/2.8D ED IF is simply an outstanding lens. The lens does not seem to have any weak points. Image resolution is very solid on both cropped as well as full frame cameras across the aperture range. Color reproduction is very accurate with well contained color fringing and flare.

The AF-D 180/2.8 performs on a very high level. Center resolution is excellent wide open already, while the borders and corners show very good sharpness throughout the tested aperture range. Typical for many FX lenses when used on DX cameras, distortion and vignetting are very low.

Extremely excellent lens. I use this on a D800 for reproduction of fine watercolour artwork which I demand highly sharp results. i also use it on a D300 for bird photography and again it performs outstandingly.

I have used this on my D7100 and my D600 primarily, and have loved it. When my D7100 had to go in for repairs, and all that I had to shoot with was my old D80, the pictures still looked great. Really no complaints. But as always, the proof is in the pictures.

AH MAY ZING. This is the stuff that legends are made of. Simply a superb lens. Good enough to be used wide open. Works well on both AF and manual focus bodies. Well balanced too. Zero regrets having bought this lens.

I mean what can you say, it's a Nikon Lens and this 180mm is a classic lens, great for portraiture. Just a really high quality lens.This lens should be grouped with the "Must Have Lenses" for Nikon.

I love this lens for outdoor use. Very nice to picture people. It is somewhat long when carrying around. Also people will notice you! Definitely a lens I recommend.

This is possibly the sharpest lens I have ever shot with. It produces beautiful colour and I loved using it to take portraits on my D70. Really good for portraits and for sport if you can get close enough to the action.

  Sometimes it doesn't seem long enough. ie sports photography, Only really practical for head shot portraits unless you have alot of space to back up. I mainly used it for this anyway.

Back in the film days I always wanted a 300 f/2.8 lens, but they were close to three grand even then and over five grand now. Now through the magic of DX format in my Nikon D7000 I can have close to one for about a fifth of the price in the 180 f/2.8 lens.

This is a unique lens. Beautifully crafted and pro level optics. I got mine used but in mint condition. Was surprised at how light and small it was for a 180mm prime. On my D810 this lens is sharp wide open and renders beautiful images. The bokeh is superb and creamy and AF performance is excellent.
