Nikon's DC-Nikkor family is only two lenses deep, comprising just this one and a 105mm f/2. A full-frame lens, this 135mm f/2 ($1,080, street) converts to about 200mm on a Nikon D80.

The DC-Nikkor AF 135mm f/2 D is a very high quality, versatile tele lens. The resolution figures are excellent when using the Nikkor as a conventional lens. The Defocus Control (DC) feature gives you superior control over background and foreground blur - some portrait and still-life photographers...

I already owned the 105mm f/2D DC-Nikkor, my favorite lens for a very long time, which I have used in every way possible on every camera body ever made by Nikon (up through the D5/D500). I used it for portrait, street, kids, and landscape.

I have had my eyes fixed on this lens for a number of years. Off and on, I borrowed it from friends and created beautiful images. Finally, I bought my own about a month. It is like a dream come true. Honestly, my foremost reason to buy this lens was the unique DeFocus control.

My main portrait lens. Everything look great with this, razor sharp at f2, smooth bokeh, fast, built like a tank. For me the choice between the 135 and 70-200 was the size and weight : I don't want to carry all day long the zoom beast for street portrait photography.

Thought I'd bring this review up to date and reconfirm what most have already stated. This 'fast prime' remains a phenomenal lens. An absolutely wonderful piece of glass to have and use.

DC of course, Excellent build quality, the built in velvet lined lens hood is a nice touch., Fast aperture, one stop better than the 2.8's, Fast enough autofocus, Sharp enough to draw blood if you want.

Some sample variations that were front focusing. I found two that had this problem. I don't think I would buy this lens used without being able to check for this abnormality., Auto focus is a tad noisy if you're used to AF-S lenses., Pro Quality=Pro price. It always seems to be that way with Nikon.

Took this out for a good test run today to see how this great lens would work on some street shooting I was impressed. The bucket drummer was back lit on a street corner with sun light reflecting off every shiny surface it could tough light to say the least Nikon got it right here!

I own a series of Nikkor AF-D lenses that span the 50-180mm spectrum and allow me to capture excellent portraits in a variety of scenarios (50/1.4, 60/2.8, 85/1.4, 105/2, 135/2, and 180/2.8). Among these, the 105 and 135 DC-Nikkors are my favorite.
