Nikon is to be lauded for offering a 24.2-megapixel DSLR for less than 700 bucks. This is first and foremost a still camera, and as such does a very solid job. It is clearly an entry-level model without the sophisticated tweaks enthusiasts crave such as bracketing, more cross-type sensors, HDR and...

The Nikon D3200 is a very capable and compact digital SLR. Its Guide Mode is perfect for beginners, and the camera offers enough manual controls to satisfy more advanced photographers.

  • +

Compact. Good quality at high ISOs. Guide Mode for beginners. Continuous video autofocus. Mic input.

  • -

Small pentamirror viewfinder. Fixed LCD. Kit lens could be better.

With a huge leap that almost doubles the resolution of its predecessor, the 24 Megapixel Nikon D3200 becomes the highest resolution DX body in Nikon's DSLR range. For its entry-level offering that's quite a bold statement from Nikon and one that puts the D3200 at the top of the budget DSLR pile in...

At £649, the D3200 is actually more than the D5100 – the next model up in the Nikon DSLR line-up, though expect this price to fall slightly after launch. If you want a high resolution DSLR, this is the cheapest option out there – the Sony Alpha 65 with a virtually identical sensor, though with a...

Easy to use, performs well and delivers great images.

Slight blue cast on LCD display in some lighting conditions, relatively high price.

The Nikon D3200 is a no-nonsense, ‘traditional style’ entry-level DSLR that is a solid performer on all levels. It doesn't offer much in terms of innovative features, but comes with the highest pixel-count in its class and good image quality across the ISO range.

  • +

Good detail at low ISOs (with good lenses), Well-balanced noise reduction at higher sensitivities, decent noise levels, Relatively low raw noise levels allow for custom processing in raw conversion, Good quality video output, Decent buffer and burst rates for this class of camera, Overall responsive...

Slightly soft output at a pixel-level, Tendency to slightly overexpose in bright contrasty conditions, Unintuitive setting of aperture in movie mode, No 'live-preview' of aperture changes in live -view, No dedicated ISO button (but you can set the Fn-button to control this setting), Live-view...

Announced on April 19, 2012 and available in the marketplace at the end of that month, the D3200 is Nikon’s latest generation entry-level DSLR. While the D3100 remains on Nikon’s website as this is written, the D3200 provides some significant performance enhancements over the older camera for only a...

Without a doubt, the Nikon D3200 is a very impressive little camera. Despite the fact that it is targeted at beginners and those upgrading from a point and shoot camera, the D3200 can deliver superb high resolution images that closely rival even some of the higher-end offerings from Nikon.

The entry-level Nikon D3200 has a few tricks up its sleeve that make it super-easy for beginners to use, plus some high-end specs like a mega-high-resolution sensor that you won't find even on some pricier cameras.

We've been fans of most Nikon entry-level digital SLRs since the D40 debuted back in 2006. As the latest addition to this popular line, the Nikon D3200 increases the resolution significantly with a 24.2-megapixel CMOS sensor. Do consumers and novice photographers really need that much resolution?

  • +

Some users with larger hands (or those used to bigger DSLRs) may find camera and controls too small, Mediocre results with kit lens; soft corners and noticeable geometric distortion, Movie record and Live View buttons are now split up, with one on top and the other on the rear.

didn't create the review to critique the technical aspect of the camera, aside from the non-factory packaging, everything is in order and here. functions as described.

did not come with the box pictured, came in a plain white box and had a finger print on the lens.. shipping label said new but this looks like a refurb to me. kinda takes the value down a notch when being purchased as a gift.

Have purchased other factory recon items from Beach in the past, all arriving in excellent working and physical condition. If considering purchasing reconditioned goods, I would only consider factory recon goods. Beach[...] has been a good resource for factory recon Nikon goods.

  • +

Excellent condition, like new. All accessories included as would be with "new" purchase. No operational or cosmetic issues.

Packing by Nikon could be more secure. Body was not packed securely in the Nikon box. A Nikon issue.

Got this Gem for Christmas. Not even close to my CANON 40D. I wanted a camera that I could take movie clips with. Well it does that somewhat only problem is it will not auto focus all the time (most of the time) in any mode a hit and miss thing.

You will love this camera, but make sure to thoroughly check out all the equipment to ensure it arrived intact. We didn't use our carrying case for over a month. The Marketplace retailer (Cameta Camera) has a strict 30-day return policy. If you don't check your gear in time, you're stuck!
