Nikon AF Micro-Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D Lens

Nikon AF Micro Nikkor 60mm f/2.8D is a pretty solid, but not a unique in its class lens. The resolving capabilities of the lens are quite outstanding on both APS-C as well as FF cameras (give or take - border performance at f/2.8 is slightly off, but still acceptable).

A top performer, pure and simple.

Released back in '93 the Micro-Nikkor AF 60mm f/2.8 D is a relatively old design but it can still deliver excellent results. The resolution figures are excellent and both vignetting and distortions are nothing to worry about.

You don’t have to be a Sherlock Holmes to figure out from our test that the Nikkor 2.8/60 is a very good instrument, which is half the price of the new Nikkor 2.8/105 VR and still provides lots of great sharp pictures.

Think of this lens as a super sharp general purpose lens that simply focuses ultra-close as a bonus. That's what it is! Just a super lens and a super price point!It is just a bit longer than standard 50mm, and so it is useful as a walking around lens for general day-to-day shooting on 135 or FX.

After much research, I decided to get the 60mm f/2.8D for macro work. Little did I know it would end up being my most used lens overall, because of its superior sharpness and contrast. It worked beautifully on my D610, and then spectacularly on my D810.

An excellant lens, i have used it over 5 years still going on without any problem, i never had to use any other lenses as much as this, a medium tele - when used on the Nikon D2xs, it renderd highest quality results specially on reproduction's of Old masters Art works, and for Antiquities.

This is an absolutely fantastic lens. It's extremely sharp. The autofocus is very fast, even though it's not an AF-S lens. The AF is fast enough to cover sports which require short lenses such as basketball. The field of view on DX bodies allows it to double as a portrait lens.

Extremely sharp when stopped down but forget about using it wide open because it is just a blur in the corners and just mediocre in the center.

  Terrible corner sharpness at f2.8 and often require artificial lighting, a tripod or a flash to get results.

You want Macro, I'll give you Macro! I removed this lens from it's box after purchasing and was very pleased with the weight of this sucker, and then I used it. The results were amazing, sharp, fast, and easy to use. The deep lens element negates the need for a lens hood in most situations.
