This new standard zoom lens, which has been introduced as a kit with the Nikon D3300 entry-level DSLR sports a compact, collapsible design, Vibration Reduction and silent focusing.
The Nikon AF-S DX 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 ED II shows the typical characteristics of an entry-level kit lens. The build quality is rather poor, but compensates for with a rather low price. However, there's not really much to complain about its performance regarding center sharpness and vignetting.
There's no such thing as a free lunch and the Nikkor AF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 G ED DX is no exception to the rule. The build quality is downright miserable which is probably a sufficient reason alone for some to think about the AF-S 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G DX straight from the start.
This lens is amazing, the fact that it came with my D3300 as a kit unit is even better.I have to say that I was skeptical at first, but after getting out of the auto mode with my DSLR and being fully in control of my camera, shooting in RAW mode, processing my files with the View NX, photoshop &...
I thought this was the same lens that comes with the camera. It is not. It is actually smaller. Not sure if it is better or worse than the original at this point
Got this free with my d40x and must say i was pleasantly surprised how sharp it was. I dont like zooms much so have now decided to stick with this for holidays or trips. It is sharp and light and will deliver excellent quality providing you can use it in good light or with a flash.
