After finding out that HP whitelists just a few, internal wifi cards and being unable to upgrade a laptop for someone, this was the next best, name-brand solution. It works well on a USB 2.0 port and, per speedtest.net, was reliably maxing out the internet downstream connection at about 230mbps.
I used to use an antenna that connected directly to the PCI-e port. It started to have connection issues, where I would get huge ping spikes when I'm gaming. Webpages sometimes could take a while to load, or I'd need to disconnect/reconnect to the router to finally get a stable connection I've only...
I’m running a gaming rig wirelessly and wanted better connectivity to my main router. I upgraded my router at the same time and specifically wanted something that could support beam forming. This does that. And I’d say 90-95% of the time is seamless. Fast, too.

I couldn't recommend this less. The drivers are defective and some programs cause it to temporarily stop working.
it good and fast
Software can get in the way of the dongle connecting to wifi - so after the drivers are installed disable it in your start up aps - otherwise it does the job won't do it as fast as as a normal pcie wifi card but it works.
Very solid for online streaming, browsing and gaming. Solid from Netgear.
Tested this product 7 different times at 7 different McDonalds locations. Here are the consistent results. WITHOUT the Wifi extender at 200ft away from the McDonalds parking lot Mbps download: Between 1-5 Mbps upload: Between 3-7 WITH the Wifi extender at 200ft away from the McDonalds parking lot...
