The newest hybrid PC from Redmond has improved specs, a stunning screen, and a better keyboard.

Dazzling screen and powerful audio make this an impressive platform for video content. Plenty of power packed into a sub-two pound chassis.
-
-
Some performance and utility hiccups. Floppy keyboard remains underwhelming.
A host of small refinements cements the Surface Pro 4's position as the best-in-class Windows tablet -- so long as you're prepared to pay extra for the required keyboard cover accessory.
-
+
The Surface Pro 4 fits a larger screen with a higher resolution into a slightly slimmer body than last year's model. The pen and keyboard cover are also improved, and this is one of the first mobile systems shipping with Intel's latest processors.

-
Microsoft still refuses to include the Type Cover keyboard by default, forcing a separate purchase. Battery life still isn't enough for a full day.
The quest for more power is enticing, but it’s not always the most practical of efforts. As we often seek to remind our readers, it is instead the balance of the different elements of the equation which defines a truly great mainstream device.

gorgeous display panel with excellent brightness, contrast, and color rendition, passively-cooled m3 SoC and thus practically silent, vastly-improved Type Cover with great keyboard and touchpad, revised Surface Pen is terrific and included, fantastic build quality and attractive design, fast system...

only one USB 3.0 port; no USB Type-C, no maintenance or upgrades possible, lap usage is still not comfortable compared to a conventional laptop, pricey, especially with Type Cover considered, NVMe SSD performance correction requires manual driver update, gets quite warm in some regions under stress
The Surface Pro 4 is the best version of Microsoft's tablet yet, with a stellar display, snappy performance, and more than 10 hours of battery life. With Windows 10, the Surface Pen, and optional Type Cover, it can replace your laptop.

Sharp, vibrant touch display., Full-friction, adjustable kickstand., Improved Surface Pen and Type Cover from the previous iteration., Strong battery life in testing.
-

Pricey., Type Cover sold separately., Still only one USB port.
Every previous time I've reviewed the Surface Pro, I've concluded with a kind of frustration. Microsoft keeps aiming the Surface Pro at laptops, and for the way I use laptops, it keeps falling short. Why, I have always asked, will they not simply build a real laptop?
-
+
Bigger, better screen., Fine keyboard and a touchpad you'll actually enjoy using., Wide range of configuration options.
-
-
It's very short on USB ports., With all the options it gets very expensive, and you can't freely mix and match the options., We still don't know when the biometric authentication will work., Type Covers are no longer available in purple.
It’s probably fair to describe the Surface Pro 4 as an evolutionary update over its predecessor. That’s not to say the improvements, collectively, aren’t impressive: more of the same, or similar, is no bad thing when you’re talking about a tablet that in its several generations has built a loyal...
The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is significantly better than previous versions, thanks to a better keyboard, new generation processors, an improved digital pen, and a slimmer, lighter design. It really is a device able to replace both a medium-powered laptop and a tablet.
The Surface Pro 4 delivers in every single category you could possibly want with a hybrid ultrabook laptop. It’s small, weighs hardly anything, and is very easy to use in both laptop and tablet mode. The superior speed and screen quality makes it an even better buy.
Going into the Microsoft Devices event earlier this month, there were a lot of questions on my mind in how Microsoft was going to move forward with Surface Pro. There is no doubt that Surface Pro 3 has been a big success for the company after several years of middling results.
Doesn’t reinvent anything radical, but further cements Surface Pro as the 2-in-1 to beat.
For creating flyers, power point, and spreadsheets, as well as basic Word processing skills.

This is genuinely the best device I've ever owned. I use it for everything from Photoshop to Visual Studio development, and everything in between.

None!
I was looking for a laptop replacement for my 6 year old Lenovo Thinkpad. I also wanted to portability and form factor of a tablet, The Surface Pro 4 is a perfect solution. I highly recommend it. I use it mainly for office applications and corp email - it performs perfectly.
I would recommend this tablet to others, especially if you are looking to capture signatures.

The pen...I really love how it works with the tablet. I use it for patient forms and they sign right on the screen, so it's really nice that you can have your hand on the screen while signing because that's what we are used to doing.

Weight and thickness. Not real downers, and it's obviously an older generation tablet so it's expected.
I recommend this 2 in 1. this is my first computer other than laptop. it is very fast and convenient but still have much to learn about features. I have had it for one month and works as expected but a little more expensive than I had hoped.

As snappy, if not snappier than my old 3rd Gen i7 16gb ssd laptop. Nice battery life that lasts me all day at school.

None that I can think of.
I love the Surface. It is performing wonderfully and the display is fantastic. It our performs my old laptop. The only reason I rated it a 4 out of 5 is the price.
