I shoot sports. Horse racing and Minor league baseball. I need a fast set-up for my shooting. I shoot with Nikon and Canon cameras, and some of my lens for these camera are very heavy. I need some support for the above and the Manfrotto Monoplod is PREFECT for the above.
just used it for a wedding and it was perfect
Many, many years ago I did a job where a guy had one of these. After one day of shooting with it I never went back to a tripod. I mainly shoot wedding, promo vid's, and the occasional music video. A tripod still has its place in my bag of tools but I use this monopod about 80% of the time.
I have a carbon fiber monopod, but missed the increased stability with the tripod. I took for granted that one could lock the base. Not being able to do that is a major disappointment, and it removes the main advantage over my monopod in addition to being considerably heavier.
This is a solid monopod. The only thing that would make it better would be an option to lock the fluid base in position when desired (just a suggestion for Manfrotto). But it's still great as is.
Sturdy build and good quality. It's great while your holding it but the swivel doesn't lock. So if your wanting to have your camera "free standing" then this isn't for you. You can also use it to reach higher up and keep your camera stabilized as long as your holding it.
I love this new component in my photo kit ... however I had to find a proper head and I should have gotten the 502HD Pro Video or the model with the quick release that properly pans. The ones I got are manfrotto but they are way too tight on the pan.
Bought this to use for shooting video at events and weddings. It works great. Would definitely recommend it.
Good for video and photo, very versatile when on the move. May be used with other brand fluid heads or even ball heads if you like. The feet and fluid base are key features on this monopod. The quick release levers work well and seem durable enough.
The Manfrotto monopod is very light and good to use for wedding, especially for getting ready in a tiny room. I used to use Manfrotto tripod which was sturdy but too heavy to carry. The only bad thing is there is no function to lock the pole without moving it...
