Manfrotto 808RC4 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head with RC4 Quick Release - Supports 17.6 lb (8kg)

Since I haven't got out to the fild still... I can just tell you that it is perfectly stable and holding Mamiya RB67 Pro SD with 250 mm KL lens without problems (cca 4 kg).We will see how it will work out in the field.

...because I like the head except for one large problem: it's very difficult to tighten-- especially the tilt handle. Like others here have said, you have to REALLY clench it down to keep it from moving forward or backward, especially with a weighty lens.

Positives: A head design is excellent, and easy to adjust the tilt angle and directions. Negatives: needs a rather strong grip to tighten the adjustments. Definitely not for those with small hands and afraid of heavier weight.

Would be great for mirror less or a DSLR with no big lens. I will likely use it with a 4x5 field camera but a Toyo Rail Studio camera does not do so well on it. That is a long load but well within the claimed weight it supports. Seems to flex a bit much.

It's a well made head. The controls tighten up well and is easy to use. Also has accessories that can be added to it for greater utility.

I bought myself the Canon 70-200Llll 2.8 for Christmas and I took it out on a trial run and put it on my tripod only to discover it was too heavy for that head. I researched and decided on the 808RC4 and it works great.

I use this head on my personal tripod, and it is so good, I ordered 2 for work. I have had it over 5 years, and still works just like new.

Manfrotto quality. Well engineered piece of equipment.

I liked this head in most ways, but I am selling it after owning it only a few months. I shoot spherical stitches, which require pointing the camera straight up. This lens only allows the camera to point up 30 degrees! Another very small gripe, one I could live with, is the locks tighten down funny.
