Purchased one of these in 2006 together with manfrotto 4 section carbon fibre tripod. Both have been excellent and have never let me down. The ball head often stays in the car in temperatures down to -20C and always works. Used with mamiya RB 67 and Nikon D800. Recommended.
I use this for a large format view camera, it does the job. I would prefer a camera plate that was standard to other quick release systems but for my purpose this works. Head is fairly rugged and the build quality is good.
used for a medium format and view camera. The hydrostatic system allows to freeze with two fingers my view camera and in a secure way. The mounting plate is awesome, a little bit big for my medium format but it fits so well with the large format.
Easy to use and provides a good stable base for camera and lens. You can quickly lock the head into position and the ability to pan is a plus! I had a pistol grip and it creeped with a heavy lens. It also had some limits when shooting a vertical....this on is great!
I spent several months on and off looking for a head light and small enough for backpacking while being stable enough for a 16-pound camera. After using it for several months now, I feel I made the right choice. There is no play in the quick-release plate where it connects to the head.
Easy to use with controls that make sense and can be located without taking your eye away from the viewfinder. Complete workhorse that lasts, I bought this after using a friend's. He has been using his for years and shoots constantly, this has stood up flawlessly.
I have had mine for 4 years and it performs flawlessly, even when left in my car at minus 25C. Used for Nikon D700 and D800 and for Mamiya RB67. Really like the ease of of tightening and release and the ability to adjust the friction to the camera weight.
So far I have to give this head 5 stars. It's very easy to use much unlike the old head I was using. It stays where it is locked and does not move while locking. I can also use the plate from my old head with this ballhead.
I've owned this for about two years and I like it more and more. Used with a Nikon D800e, Hasselblad and 4x5 view camera, it's well made, smooth and doesn't budge once locked down. It's a little heavy (so four stars rather than five) but I still take it with the Gitzo GT253 on many day hikes.
easy set-up. good to use for active shooting.
