Very pleased with the Manfrotto 290 carbon fiber monopod. I upgraded from an older aluminum Manfrotto models and the weight difference is a huge benefit. It also collapses to a much shorter height, meaning that I can fit it in most backpacks or carry-on luggage. Much more convenient to travel with.
The description says "Carbon Fiber", but when you look at the actual product it says "Carbon Composite". It does have some of the Carbon Fiber look and feel, but in person you can tell the difference - it's heavier for one thing.
Combined with a variety of heads--a huge Sirui bullhead and a smaller Benro, and a very functional Kirk Arca quick clamp--this has been a very functional monopod. With the exception of the Sirui (very stable but heavy and makes the 'pod unwieldy), the functionality is pretty hard to beat.
If you are into hiking and outdoor photography, this will be a good choice. Carbon Fiber construction makes it extremely lightweight, quick lock enables you to easily and quickly adjust heights (which is not that easy with screw lock ones).
love it does it job good like way feels and holds. only issue i have so far is when to windy out side huge breezy we get make hard to keep steady in huge sand dunes or sand on beach or uneven ground on some walking trails we have in area.
Nice and light and the legs extend really easy. Recommend by a friend and I would highly recommend this product
Works great with Sigma 150-600 Sport lens, needed a little tighten on one section but easy to do. Like most telescopic structures, works best when sections are an inch or so short of full extension.
Excellent balance, smooth deployment, secure locking. The dual screw thread can sometimes be a little tricky to attach using the smaller thread and the wrist strap sometimes comes undone but these are very minor issues. Well worth the investment.
Excellent product - light, well made. Just the job.
Not used as of writing, however I see no issues.
